The World Culinary Awards announced Hanoi as the winner of Asia's Best Emerging Culinary City Destination 2023 at a ceremony in Dubai, UAE in late October. Hanoi beat out other nominees such as Tokyo, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur to take the top prize.

Of Vietnam's first 3 out of 4 Michelin-starred restaurants in Hanoi, the 1-Michelin-starred Hibana by Koki at Capellia Hotel won the Best Hotel Restaurant in Asia 2023 award. In Ho Chi Minh City, Anan Saigon, another 1-Michelin-starred restaurant, won the Best Restaurant in Asia 2023 award. Hôtel des Arts Saigon won the Asia's Best Brunch Venue 2023 award.

The World Culinary Awards is a global culinary award that celebrates excellence in the global culinary industry. It is a sister event to the World Travel Awards and has been held annually since 2020. Asia's Best Emerging Culinary City Destination is a new award added this year. The award's voting criteria are based on the evaluation of experts in the fields of cuisine, service and tourism.

Vietnam has been honored by the World Culinary Awards many times in previous years. In 2022, Vietnam received the award for Best Culinary Destination in Asia. La Maison 1888 located in the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort won the award for Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant in Asia 2022 and Best in the World 2020. Anan Restaurant & Rooftop Bar is the best restaurant in Asia 2022.
