Hanoi: Consumer price index in July increased by 0.51%

The consumer price index (CPI) in July 2024 of Hanoi city increased by 0.51% compared to June 2024, increased by 1.23% compared to December 2023 and increased by 5.51% compared to the same period last year.

Statistics released by the Hanoi Statistics Office on the morning of July 29 showed that in July, 10 out of 11 CPI groups increased compared to the previous month. The transportation group increased by 1.38% (reducing the overall CPI by 0.14%) due to the average monthly gasoline price increasing by 3.78% compared to the previous month; diesel price increased by 4.37%.

The housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group increased by 0.86% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.17%) due to a 4.36% increase in kerosene prices and a 2.38% increase in average electricity prices in the month. The culture, entertainment and tourism group increased by 0.36% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.02%).

The food and catering services group increased by 0.28% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.08%) due to a 0.35% increase in food prices; a 0.17% increase in food prices; and an increase in eating out by 0.14%. The household equipment and appliances group increased by 0.09% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.01%). The other goods and services group increased by 2.28% (increasing the overall CPI by 0.08%) because from July 1, 2024, the basic salary of civil servants and public employees will increase, so health insurance services will also increase.

On average, in the first 7 months of 2024, CPI increased by 5.36% compared to the same period last year, in which 10/11 commodity groups increased in average CPI. The education group increased by 30.58% (causing the average CPI in the first 7 months of this year to increase by 2.42%) because in the first 3 months of the year, public schools in Hanoi applied tuition fees according to Resolution 03/2023/NQ-HDND dated July 4, 2023 of the Hanoi People's Council, at the same time, some private schools also applied increased tuition fees in the 2023-2024 school year.

The housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group increased by 6.19%; the food and catering services group increased by 3.28%; medicine and medical services increased by 4.15% (causing the CPI to increase by 0.21%); transportation increased by 2.92%... In particular, the post and telecommunications group in the first 7 months of 2024 decreased by 1.38% (causing the average CPI to decrease by 0.04%).

Issued more than 3,000 new business registration certificates

According to the Hanoi Statistics Office, in July 2024, Hanoi granted certificates to 3,007 newly established enterprises, an increase of 20% over the same period last year; registered capital reached VND 24.1 trillion, an increase of 4%; 997 enterprises resumed operations, an increase of 56%; 2,015 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations, an increase of 43%; 447 enterprises dissolved, an increase of 52%.

In the first 7 months of 2024, the City granted certificates to nearly 18,000 newly established enterprises with registered capital of VND 162.1 trillion, down 2% in the number of enterprises and down 9% in registered capital compared to the same period last year; 6,600 enterprises resumed operations, up 14%; 18,200 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations, up 23%; 2,500 enterprises dissolved, up 18%. The rate of online business registration applications was maintained at 100%, ensuring quality and timeliness.
