Dr. Do Thi Ha Tho - lecturer at Can Tho University, affirmed: “Through research, building a new rural area does not only focus on developing infrastructure or economy but also aims to preserve and promote traditional cultural values. The criteria in building a new rural area all emphasize the role of preserving cultural heritage, customs, practices and spiritual life of the community. Traditional values are not immutable but can adapt and blend in with changes in modern times. Specifically, at present, many localities still maintain folk festivals, traditional occupations, craft villages, cultural activities in the community, build cultural families, cultural hamlets, neighborhoods, etc. All of these create a civilized, modern society but still preserve the national soul”.

Each criterion in building new rural areas has contributed to preserving and maintaining the traditional values of the homeland and the nation. This further affirms that building new rural areas has entered life, permeated every cultural source, and guided people to the values of truth, goodness, and beauty./.
