On the afternoon of May 21, the Conference on Developing High-Quality Medical Human Resources at Hospitals in the Southern Region took place at Military Hospital 175 (HCMC).

Professor Le Quang Cuong, Vice Chairman of the State Council of Professors, shared that in addition to improving the quality of treatment, a major issue that hospitals need to pay attention to is training. The idea of turning Military Hospital 175 into a "hospital - school" training facility in the future, by cooperating with a medical university, is very good.

According to Professor Cuong, medical training has some special elements, because it is related to the treatment of diseases. However, currently, many specific training systems of the medical industry such as "specialty 1" and "specialty 2" are not recognized as national training systems.

Mr. Cuong believes that improving the quality of training should not only aim at the final level of Professor or Associate Professor, but also at the doctoral and master's levels. In addition, training must be multi-faceted and should not be tilted in one direction.

Besides, the hospital also needs to create conditions and have good support policies for medical staff in improving their qualifications and having enthusiasm to conduct research.

Major General, Doctor Tran Quoc Viet, Director of Military Hospital 175, shared that this place currently has 4 professors, associate professors, 30 doctors and 75 specialist doctors 2. He frankly admitted that the staff here is not up to par with the current impressive facility. This is also a problem that the Hospital's Board of Directors is very concerned about.

In the past year and this year, Military Hospital 175 has tightened up a lot in training issues, only maintaining coordination with 6 schools.

The hospital also increased the level of support in research (from 10 million VND to 30-50 million VND/topic), accompanied by clear acceptance and continued assurance of scientific research implementation.

Regarding future training directions, the unit will continue to strengthen continuous updating of medical knowledge, training at institutes and schools, and training to confirm practice and issue practice certificates.

"The hospital determined that hospital-school cooperation will benefit all four parties: hospital, school, patients and students," said Major General, Dr. Tran Quoc Viet.

Professor Tran Diep Tuan, Chairman of the Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that medical training needs to focus on what students will be able to do after graduation.

Currently, there are many medical schools but the quality of training facilities is limited. In addition, the medical industry still does not have its own set of educational program standards, but still uses the same standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, leading to the licensing of many training schools instead of needing specificity.

Mr. Tuan said that, in addition to good coordination to implement the institute - school model, the parties need to sit together to create a safe and favorable environment for students and young human resources to feel secure in studying and passionate about research.

Major General, Associate Professor Le Quang Tri, Deputy Director of Military Hospital 175, said that high-quality human resources in the health sector is always a challenge.

Military Hospital 175 identifies the development of high-quality human resources as one of three breakthroughs to meet the unit's development in the coming time. This is also the desire of the entire army, to turn the Hospital into a specialized military and medical complex, on par with the region and the world.
