On the evening of August 14, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province held the opening ceremony of the first Gia Lai province youth kickboxing championship in 2025.

The tournament is in response to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
The tournament gathered 47 martial arts schools/clubs with nearly 300 martial arts masters, coaches, and athletes participating in the lowkick event. The athletes competed in 25 sets of medals in 2 age groups.
Age group 1 from 13 – 14 years old: includes 10 weight categories (5 male and 5 female), each gym and club is allowed to send 1 athlete to participate in each weight category. Male: 45 kg, 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg and 57 kg. Female: 42 kg, 45 kg, 48 kg, 51 kg and 54 kg.

Age group 2 15 – 17 years old: includes 15 weight categories (8 male and 7 female), each gym and club is allowed to send 1 athlete to participate in each weight category. Male: 45 kg, 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg and 69 kg. Female: 42 kg, 45 kg, 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg and 60 kg.
The Gia Lai Province Youth Kickboxing Championship is a meaningful sporting event, contributing to promoting the development of kickboxing training in the locality. The tournament creates a space for exchange and learning between martial arts schools/clubs in the province. Thereby, searching and selecting a force of athletes with good expertise to prepare to compete in national and international tournaments in the coming time.
This is a martial art that fully converges the quintessence on the foundation of the following disciplines: karate, muay and boxing.

In addition, the tournament also meets the needs of enjoying cultural and sports activities of the people and tourists. Thereby contributing to promoting the image, introducing tourism potential and attractive destinations of Gia Lai to domestic and foreign tourists.
Kickboxing was introduced to Vietnam in 2009, when it was included in the competition system of the Asian Indoor Games. This is a martial art that fully converges the quintessence of the foundations of karate, muay and boxing.
