Gasoline prices increase slightly, surpassing 20,000 VND/liter

Specifically, RON 95-III gasoline - a popular type on the market - increased by 230 VND, to 20,070 VND/liter. E5 RON 92 gasoline was also adjusted up by 200 VND, currently priced at 19,600 VND/liter. This is the first time in many months that gasoline prices have returned to above 20,000 VND/liter.

On the other hand, diesel oil decreased by VND260, down to VND18,800/liter. Kerosene also decreased slightly, currently priced at VND18,660/liter. Fuel oil continued its upward trend, reaching VND15,640/kg.

Notably, since August 1, two major key enterprises, Petrolimex and PVOIL, have begun piloting the sale of E10 biofuel - a fuel blend of 10% ethanol with mineral gasoline. Petrolimex is implementing it in Ho Chi Minh City, while PVOIL is applying it in Hanoi and Hai Phong. This is the first step in the nationwide transition to green fuel, expected to be officially applied from 2026.

After the new adjustment period, the price of E10 RON 95-III gasoline distributed by Petrolimex is listed at VND19,830/liter, an increase of VND230 compared to last week.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade , fluctuations in domestic gasoline prices are greatly influenced by the world market. Over the past 7 days, international oil prices have fluctuated according to factors such as information about the US tax policy towards trading partners, as well as OPEC+'s decision to increase production from September.

Specifically, the average price of a barrel of RON 95 gasoline on the international market increased by 1.4% to 80.2 USD. Meanwhile, crude oil prices decreased by 0.5% to 1.8%, while fuel oil increased by 0.8% to 420.8 USD per ton.

Regarding domestic supply, in 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assigned a minimum distribution target of more than 29.5 million m³ (or tons) of various types of gasoline and oil to key enterprises. In the first 6 months of the year, enterprises imported and produced about 13.86 million m³ - equivalent to 47% of the annual plan. However, actual consumption only reached 12.6 million m³, causing current inventory to be around 1.7 to 1.8 million m³, enough to ensure immediate consumption needs.
