Pork and live hog prices tend to cool down

In the Central and Central Highlands, the market has not fluctuated. The North Central provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh still maintain the price of live pigs at 67,000 VND/kg. The Central Central region is from 69,000 - 71,000 VND/kg, while the South Central and Central Highlands are from 72,000 - 74,000 VND/kg; the highest price is still maintained in Binh Thuan and Lam Dong.

In the South, the province with the highest price of live pigs is Ca Mau, down 1,000 VND to 74,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Dong Thap and An Giang both decreased 1,000 VND to 73,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region. Other provinces and cities have the same price of 74,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs still maintains a large gap between regions, the average price in the North is only 66,600 VND/kg, while the Central region is 70,100 VND and the South is 73,900 VND/kg. The price of live pigs of Vietnam Joint Stock Company in the North is 68,000 VND/kg and the South is still 74,000 VND/kg. Currently, the price of live pigs has cooled down but not significantly and is still higher than other countries in the region by about 15,000 - 17,000 VND/kg; specifically, the price of live pigs in China is only 53,700 VND/kg. This is the factor that has caused the amount of imported frozen pork to increase recently.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the number of pigs arriving at wholesale markets is about 4,500/day. The price of pork pieces ranges from 86,000 - 90,000 VND/kg depending on the quality. Meanwhile, at supermarkets, common retail meat prices are: pig tail 230,000 VND/kg, pork chops 115,000 VND/kg, thigh meat 140,000 VND/kg, pork belly 213,000 VND/kg, pork belly without ribs 258,000 VND/kg, boneless pork leg 160,000 VND/kg, lean meat 195,000 VND/kg.../.
