The event was attended by Mr. Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center, along with leaders of departments, institutes, associations, representatives of provinces, enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers in the Central Highlands region.
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Nguyen Ha Loc, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, emphasized the strategic role of macadamia trees in the province's sustainable agricultural development.
Mr. Loc affirmed: “Macadamia trees not only bring high economic value but also contribute to soil protection, anti-erosion and climate change adaptation. This is one of the crops with strategic potential in restructuring the province’s agricultural sector.”

According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province currently has nearly 16,000 hectares of macadamia, with an estimated output of about 13,700 tons by 2025. Notably, more than 1,300 hectares have met VietGAP standards and 33 hectares have met organic standards, along with 75 processing facilities and 9 production - consumption chains.
At the Conference, the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also frankly acknowledged the shortcomings and challenges that the macadamia industry is facing. Among them, the quality of seeds is uneven, cultivation techniques are limited, the value chain is not closely linked, and deep processing technology has not developed synchronously.

Faced with these opportunities and challenges, Lam Dong aims to expand the macadamia area to 37,000 hectares by 2030, with an output of 48,000 tons and a processing rate of over 90%. By 2050, the macadamia area will reach about 50,000 hectares, with an output of 90,000 tons, forming a complete value chain from seed to export.

To achieve the above goal, the province will focus on planning raw material areas, applying high technology, promoting production according to VietGAP and organic standards, developing deep processing industry and promoting the brand "Lam Dong Macadamia" associated with OCOP products.

The forum is not only a place to share experiences in effective macadamia production but also opens up opportunities for connection between farmers, cooperatives and domestic and foreign processing and distribution enterprises.
With the support of all levels, sectors, businesses and farmers, macadamia trees will become a new symbol of Lam Dong agriculture, contributing to affirming the province's position on the national agricultural map.
