On the morning of December 3, at My Son Temple Complex, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board held a meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary - The journey of preserving and promoting the value of My Son World Cultural Heritage (1999-2024), looking back at the milestones achieved in the management, preservation and promotion of the value of the Heritage Site.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet - Director of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board (MBWMH) emphasized: From the early days when My Son was named a World Cultural Heritage, leaders at all levels have determined that conservation must be given top priority, conservation must not conflict with promotion, effective conservation and positive promotion.

Preservation and promotion in the right direction must be the most optimal and effective way of preservation so that the relics retain their original value, ensuring the most authenticity on the basis of conservation principles according to the Convention, the United Nations Charter and the Law on Cultural Heritage of Vietnam.

Many development programs, plans and goals have been outlined, scientific research, restoration and archaeological research have been carried out synchronously. In particular, international cooperation is the focus with many programs and projects.

My Son has achieved extremely important results, of outstanding significance in the restoration of Cham relics in Central Vietnam, becoming a model of restoration throughout the country.

In the tourism sector, the work of building and preserving heritage brands to develop sustainable tourism has been focused on. Investment in heritage promotion has been improved to be more suitable with the trend of the times. Human resources have been improved in both quality and quantity.

The type of tourism is becoming more and more modern and environmentally friendly. The space for tourism to spread is gradually expanding. The number of visitors to visit each year is growing rapidly, each year is higher than the previous year, increasing on average by over 10%.

“After 25 years of continuous efforts, the work of preserving and promoting the value of the My Son World Heritage Site has achieved remarkable success, My Son has developed in a positive and sustainable direction. From a deserted land, a relic forgotten during a long period of destruction by bombs and war, My Son has awakened, becoming a bright spot in the work of restoration, embellishment and attracting tourists.

The value of My Son is increasingly important in the political, economic and social life of the district. It is the pride of the people and a soft power that influences culture outside," Mr. Khiet shared.

Projects that have been implemented include the UNESCO-Vietnam-Italy tripartite restoration and cooperation project on "Presentation and training on international standards for the conservation of My Son G tower group", the Khe The stream archaeological excavation project, the E7 tower restoration project, the conservation and restoration project of K, H, A tower groups under the Indian project implemented from 2016 - 2021.

In particular, over the past 25 years in the field of heritage management, the My Son temple complex has been approved by the Prime Minister for the Plan to preserve, restore and promote the value of world heritages, as a basis for fulfilling the commitment to UNESCO in best protecting the outstanding global value of the heritage.

Also on the morning of December 3, during a meeting with voters in Quang Nam, Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai and the provincial National Assembly delegation visited My Son Temple Complex. The delegation also visited and congratulated the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of My Son Temple Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.

During the survey trip, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai highly appreciated the efforts of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board in preserving and restoring the tower groups associated with promoting the heritage values ​​over the past time. This is a proud result after many years of efforts in management and conservation, opening up opportunities for the My Son Temple Complex to be known by international organizations, researchers, archaeologists and many domestic and international tourists.

According to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, in recent years, My Son has received very active support from India in archaeological research and promoting the value of its heritage. Most importantly, with its existence for hundreds of years, we need to find a way to promote its value for hundreds of years to preserve its cultural and archaeological values. We need to find a way to increasingly attract not only tourists, but also researchers and people with a passion for history.

During the survey and working session, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai requested the officials and leaders of the My Son Heritage Management Board as well as local authorities to further strengthen the work of diversifying tourism products associated with ecology, diversifying tourism types such as culture, ecology, and entertainment. Coordinate with relevant units to have solutions to preserve and promote My Son sustainably and stably in the long term; avoid negative impacts from the process of unsustainable conservation and development.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai also informed about the National Assembly's recent passing of the Law on Cultural Heritage (amended), approving the investment policy of the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the period 2025 - 2035, requesting local authorities and relevant agencies to study and apply in practice the work of preserving and developing My Son Cultural Heritage, maximizing the unique cultural and architectural values ​​of the homeland with two heritages: My Son and Hoi An ancient town.
