Vice Chairman of Cam Thuy Commune People's Committee Vo Thanh Tu said that in order to ensure environmental criteria in new rural construction, Cam Thuy Commune Party Committee (Cam Lo District, Quang Tri Province) has issued a resolution on moving livestock barns out of residential areas.

From this policy, in recent times, the government, departments and branches of the commune have actively promoted and mobilized people to move barns to concentrated planning areas to keep the environment clean and beautiful, contributing to promoting the sustainable development of the local livestock industry.

Up to now, Cam Thuy commune has mobilized about 60 households in Cam Vu 1, Cam Vu 2 and Cam Vu 3 villages to move their cattle and buffalo barns to the concentrated area. The barns in the concentrated livestock area are all planned to be solidly built, each barn is about 30 m2 wide or more, with roofs made of roofing sheets.

The commune has a policy to support policy households, poor and near-poor households with 3 million VND each, and other households are supported with 1 million VND each to build barns in the concentrated livestock area. In addition, the locality has also invested in opening a 2 km long road to the concentrated livestock area, planning land for grass planting to provide food for livestock, and building guard houses for people to take turns guarding and managing.

“The relocation of barns from residential areas has completely resolved the environmental pollution caused by livestock farming. In particular, there is no longer a situation where buffaloes and cows destroy flower and ornamental tree paths, affecting the process of building model residential areas in villages; the local livestock industry has also developed more strongly,” Mr. Tu added.
