The Cau Sat archaeological site was discovered by local people in December 1975, located in Hamlet 2, Binh Loc Commune, Long Khanh City. Since its discovery, the site has undergone two excavations (in 1976 and 2021). The results of the explorations and excavations and through the collected artifacts such as quadrilateral axes, shouldered axes, grinding tables and pottery, etc., archaeologists have determined that the Cau Sat archaeological site belongs to the type of residence containing many great values in terms of material - spiritual, scientific - technical, economic - social of the ancient residents here.
The diverse artifacts collected during the excavation process prove that ancient residents lived here from 5,000 to 2,000 years ago. With its residential nature, the relic is a source of historical data providing a scientific basis for clarifying the historical and cultural values of ancient residents in the Long Khanh - Dong Nai land. Therefore, the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Long Khanh City proposed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Dong Nai Museum to study and establish a dossier of the relic and propose the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee to consider and rank the Cau Sat Archaeological Relic at the provincial level to have a basis for protecting and promoting the value of the relic in accordance with regulations.
Regarding this issue, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has submitted a document to the Provincial People's Committee proposing to rank the Cau Sat archaeological site, Binh Loc commune, Long Khanh city at the provincial level. In the document, the department reported on reviewing regulations on the arrangement of administrative units; highlighting the value of the site as well as proposing directions for preserving and promoting the value of the Cau Sat archaeological site in the coming time.
