* According to VNA reporter in Singapore, in the condolence letter sent to President To Lam, President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam “General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s dedication to the fight against corruption is also a decisive factor in his leadership. He is a steadfast believer in Vietnam’s potential and has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Party and Government are best placed to realise it,” wrote the paper.

The condolence letter from Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said: “Throughout his decades-long career in the Party, including 13 years as General Secretary, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s leadership has greatly contributed to Vietnam’s rapid economic growth and improved people’s lives.”
