General Secretary To Lam welcomed and thanked General Secretary Chakil Aboobacar for leading a high-ranking delegation of the FRELIMO Party to visit Vietnam and attend the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

On the morning of April 28, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Secretary General of the ruling Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) Chakil Aboobabcar, who is on a working visit to Vietnam and attending the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification from April 26 to May 1, 2025.

The General Secretary emphasized that the participation of the FRELIMO Party, along with friendly and fraternal parties from Africa as well as from many regions around the world, is a great joy, support and encouragement for the Party, State and people of Vietnam in these meaningful days.

The General Secretary expressed his belief that this visit by the FRELIMO Party delegation will be even more meaningful as it takes place right on the occasion of the two countries preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (June 25, 1975 - June 25, 2025).

General Secretary To Lam sent his regards and congratulations to Mr. Daniel Chapo, who was recently elected as President of Mozambique and Chairman of the FRELIMO Party; shared his good impressions of the peaceful country of Mozambique, expressed his respect for the love that the Mozambican people have for President Ho Chi Minh; and believed that the FRELIMO Party will continue to lead the Mozambican people to successfully achieve the set goals, build a developed and prosperous Mozambique, and enhance its role in the region and the world.

Secretary General of the FRELIMO Party Chakil Aboobacar thanked the delegation for their warm and friendly reception, and respectfully sent congratulations from the Chairman of the FRELIMO Party, President Daniel Chapo to General Secretary To Lam, the Communist Party of Vietnam, the State and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Mozambique diplomatic relations.

Mr. Chakil Aboobacar affirmed that Vietnam is one of the priority partners in Mozambique's foreign policy, saying that this visit to Vietnam is meaningful because it is not only his first foreign trip since being elected Secretary General of the FRELIMO Party in February 2025, but also receives high expectations from the FRELIMO Party and the people of Mozambique in deepening and promoting the traditional relationship and good multi-faceted cooperation between the two Parties, two States, two Governments and people of the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam and the FRELIMO Party have had a good traditional relationship of solidarity, friendship and cooperation since the 1960s and have been inherited, nurtured and increasingly developed by generations of leaders; affirming that the Communist Party of Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to expand cooperation with the FRELIMO Party.

In a comradely atmosphere, the two leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining and promoting the relationship between the two ruling parties in orienting the Vietnam-Mozambique relationship on the basis of political trust to expand cooperation to areas of cooperation where both sides have needs and strengths such as oil and gas, liquefied gas, mineral exploitation, food production, healthcare, etc., while focusing on cultural cooperation and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.

Mozambique welcomes and is ready to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to come to learn about and invest in business in Mozambique.

General Secretary To Lam also expressed his willingness to cooperate, support and share experiences in the agricultural sector to contribute to ensuring food security for Mozambique.

The two leaders highly appreciated the Movitel Telecommunications Joint Venture between Viettel and SPI Company of the FRELIMO Party, which continues to be a bright spot in investment relations between the two countries, and agreed to promote Movitel to expand into the field of digital transformation and apply high technology in production and business to contribute to improving the lives of the people of Mozambique.

The two leaders also discussed a number of specific measures to promote cooperation through the Party channel, including signing a cooperation agreement between the two Parties for the 2025-2030 period, exchanging experiences in leadership, national management, Party building and resolving socio-economic issues, and expanding cooperation in training and fostering officials of the two Parties.

Discussing a number of international issues of mutual concern, the two leaders agreed that the two Parties and countries should continue to promote tradition, coordinate and support each other at multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, ASEAN and the African Union...

General Secretary To Lam asked the FRELIMO Party and Mozambique to support the stance of Vietnam and ASEAN on resolving maritime disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of respecting international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and ASEAN's efforts to build the East Sea into a sea of ​​peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development./.
