This is a collaborative project between the Vietnam Drama Theater and the main creative team (director, scriptwriter, music , stage design, choreographer...) from Korea.

Musical about the role of the bourgeoisie in the August Revolution

The musical's original script was written by Seo Sang Wan, with author Le Trinh of the Vietnam Drama Theater coordinating the review and editing.

The work is about patriotic people, including the great contribution of the petty bourgeoisie who devoted not only money but also sacrificed their lives to join the resistance and the revolution.

The people who followed this revolution were deeply influenced by the peace- loving spirit and charity of President Ho Chi Minh.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online, author Seo Sang Wan said he read a lot of documents to write the script. But faced with so much material, he was overwhelmed.

In the end, he chose to learn stories about real people in a special period of Vietnam's history, the eve of independence.

The musical emphasizes the role of the Vietnamese petty bourgeoisie during this period. The main character is a bourgeois woman who made great contributions to the revolution.

Thanks to author Le Trinh verifying the information and timeline, he confidently created and flew in the story.

Korean director moved by Vietnamese people's patriotism

Regarding the name Café bánh mì , director Cho Joon Hui said that coffee and bánh mì are famous foods and drinks in Vietnam that he heard a lot about on the radio in Korea.

To him, it is a representative image of the Vietnamese people. And the silent, anonymous people are also the main characters in the musical indirectly praising President Ho Chi Minh.

"Uncle Ho is great and the Vietnamese people are also great in their desire for independence and freedom, so I want to make a musical about the nameless, silent heroes, which are the great people.

We must find a way to make President Ho's spirit manifest through ordinary people, through unknown soldiers. And that's why I chose to name it Caf é bánh mì " director Cho Joon Hui said.

In Vietnam, the musical is scheduled to premiere on the evening of August 15 at the Star Theater (formerly known as Star Galaxy Theater).

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, the Vietnam Drama Theater is also staging the art program Uncle Ho, an immense love, consisting of two short plays, talking about his immense love for the Vietnamese people.

That is Sister Tin's Story and The South in Uncle Ho's Heart by author Le Trinh, Ly Nguyen An, directed by Meritorious Artist Mai Nguyen.

The story of Ms. Tin's family is about Uncle Ho's visit to the poorest family in Hanoi on New Year's Eve, the year of the Tiger, 1962.

The South in Uncle Ho's Heart is a touching story about Uncle Ho and heroine Tran Thi Ly and the soldiers and people of the South.
