On the occasion of the National Day holiday on September 2 this year, officials, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 4 days off, from August 31 to September 3. The long holiday has increased the demand for travel, tourism and returning to their hometowns. In this situation, functional departments and transportation units in the province have made plans and increased means of transport to better serve travel needs and ensure safety for the people.
Anticipating that people's travel needs would increase during the September 2nd holiday, on August 28, Ms. Hoang Thi Ai Linh, who lives in Quarter 2, Dong Giang Ward, Dong Ha City, went to Tan Quang Dung Bus Company to get tickets to Da Lat for travel. However, she was very surprised when there were still plenty of tickets for the holiday. According to Ms. Linh, although her family has a personal car, she still booked bus tickets for a long trip because at this time there are many vehicles participating in traffic, so traveling by high-quality bus will be safer and more health-friendly.

As one of the leading units in the transportation sector with more than 40 vehicles of all kinds specializing in transporting passengers on the routes Dong Ha - Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Ha - Da Lat, Dong Ha - Vung Tau, Dong Ha - Da Nang and vice versa, Thanh Lien Quang Tri Company Limited with the brand name Tan Quang Dung is familiar with the number of customers that will increase dramatically during each holiday. Mr. Phan Van Thanh, Director of Thanh Lien Quang Tri Company Limited, said that normally every year the number of passengers traveling during long holidays such as National Day on September 2 will increase by about 30 - 40% compared to normal days. However, the company has not yet recorded the situation of "sold out tickets" like previous years.
According to Mr. Thanh, the number of customers buying tickets is expected to increase closer to the holiday. Of which, short routes such as Dong Ha - Da Nang will increase the most, while long routes such as Dong Ha - Ho Chi Minh City will increase in the last days of the holiday because this is the time when people return to Ho Chi Minh City to work, students return to school...
According to Mr. Thanh, to meet the travel needs of the people, the bus company has planned to increase trips for each route, for example, for the Dong Ha - Da Nang route, it is expected to double the number of trips from 30 trips/day to 60 trips/day, preparing spare vehicles to promptly serve people on routes with sudden increases in passengers. Committed to selling the correct number of tickets according to the number of vehicles, not carrying more than the prescribed number of people.
In particular, with the increased application of information technology for customer care, now, in addition to going directly to the place to buy tickets, passengers can choose to book tickets via the website, call the hotline number to choose the right bus and seat. Passengers also do not have to spend much time waiting at the station because there are shuttle buses to pick them up at home.
“We still reserve a certain number of vehicles, ready to serve passengers if the demand for booking tickets continues to increase. With our current capacity, the bus company is committed to meeting all travel needs of passengers during the holiday,” Mr. Thanh affirmed.

At Dong Ha Station, there are also quite a few passengers coming to buy tickets to travel during the holiday. Head of Dong Ha Railway Station Nguyen Van Son informed that based on the number of tickets sold, it is estimated that the travel demand of people during this time has increased by about 50%, many train compartments have been fully booked, and train ticket prices during this time have also been adjusted to increase by 10%.
According to Mr. Son, currently the number of tickets left on the main trains is quite small, for example, on the way to Ho Chi Minh City on August 31, there are only 9 tickets left on train SE1, 4 tickets on SE3, 4 tickets on SE5... For the way to Hanoi, the number of remaining tickets is also not much and is scattered across the train cars.
Faced with the high demand for travel during the September 2 holiday, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a document requesting departments, branches and localities to strengthen the work of ensuring traffic order and safety during the September 2 National Day holiday.
Accordingly, the provincial police are required to develop a plan and implement a plan to organize, regulate, and reasonably divide traffic, and guide safe and smooth traffic, especially on National Highway 1, National Highway 9, Ho Chi Minh Road, etc., areas where traffic is forecast to increase during the National Day holiday on September 2. Arrange forces to clear and divide traffic when accidents and traffic jams occur.
Strengthen inspection to ensure safety of inland waterway traffic on routes from the shore to Con Co Island, waterways, cross-river passenger wharves, and tourist boat ports; resolutely suspend operations of waterway passenger vehicles that violate safety conditions; absolutely prohibit waterway passenger transport during heavy rains and floods and when the weather has complicated developments.
The Department of Transport directs transport businesses to have plans to ensure capacity and quality of transport services, ensure traffic safety, especially passenger transport services by road and inland waterways during the National Day holiday on September 2, to better serve the travel needs of students entering the new school year.
