In 2024, many units and localities in Dak Nong did a good job of afforestation. Thanks to that, the province's forest development targets far exceeded the plan.
By the end of 2024, the hills in sub-area 1630, Quang Son commune, Dak Glong district were covered in green. The acacia trees planted 5-6 months ago have taken root and are green. Many trees are about 30-40cm tall and have begun to branch out.
Sub-area 1630 belongs to the forest area managed by Quang Son Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. (Quang Son Company). In 2024, this sub-area alone was newly planted with about 13 hectares.
Of these, 5 hectares of forest were completely replanted on bare hills. The remaining area was replanted, planted on areas where trees had not yet become forests and had died before.
About 20km from sub-area 1630, the hills in sub-area 1680, under the management of Quang Son Company, are also covered in green. Young acacia trees grow strongly on the forestry land, which used to be destroyed forests.
According to Deputy Director of Quang Son Company Tang Tuan Anh, 2024 is a positive year for the unit's forest development. Quang Son Company was assigned by the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee to plant 70 hectares of concentrated forest and to protect and promote natural regeneration of 30 hectares.
Up to now, the assigned targets have exceeded the plan. The total area of concentrated forest plantation reached 130.45ha (186% of the plan) and the area of forest protection and regeneration promotion reached 40.36ha (134.5% of the plan).
Another unit that also has an impressive concentrated forest planting area this year is Khai Vy Agriculture and Forestry Joint Stock Company (Khai Vy Company).
This company was assigned by the People's Committee of Dak Nong province nearly 2,700 hectares of forest and forest land (of which more than 1,900 hectares are natural forest) in Quang Son and Dak R'mang communes, Dak Glong district to implement an agricultural and forestry project.
This is one of the active agricultural and forestry projects in Dak Nong because it has done well in both forest management, protection and development over the past year.
In 2024, Khai Vy Company plans to plant 140 hectares of production forest. Up to now, the company's planted forest area has reached 220 hectares.
According to Deputy Director of Khai Vy Company Dang Van Nguyen, in the previous stage, the company did not have much experience in the field of forest planting. Therefore, the production forest planting was not very effective.
After the previous exploitation cycle, the entire newly planted area was carefully selected for varieties and well supervised in planting techniques. In addition to seedlings, the company hired local people to plant forests at a cost of 15 million VND/ha.
“Over the past few months of the rainy season, all of our newly planted forests have grown well. We are very hopeful that this planting season will yield many positive results,” said Mr. Nguyen.
According to Vice Chairman of Dak Glong District People's Committee Trinh Anh, 2024 is a year of efforts in afforestation work in the locality. Many units have done well in concentrated afforestation work such as: Quang Son Company, Khai Vy Company, Tan Mai Joint Stock Company...
This helps the locality successfully complete the concentrated forest planting targets assigned by the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee. The locality will maintain this result in the following years.
In 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development advised the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee to approve 2 decisions on assigning forest development plans. The total area assigned for forest development in the province is 3,067.28 hectares.
In terms of form, afforestation in the form of agroforestry is assigned a fairly large area, more than 1,110 hectares. Concentrated afforestation is assigned more than 734 hectares and scattered tree planting is nearly 139 hectares. Enclosed tree planting and regeneration promotion is assigned more than 1,083 hectares.
In terms of area, the three key forest localities, Dak Glong, Krong No and Tuy Duc, were assigned the largest forest area development target. Of which, Dak Glong was assigned more than 1,483 hectares, Krong No was assigned more than 1,144 hectares and Tuy Duc district was assigned more than 427 hectares.
According to the review of Dak Nong Forestry Sub-Department, as of October 2024, the total forestation area of the whole province has reached 3,236.49 hectares (105.52% of the plan assigned by the Provincial People's Committee).
Some targets were achieved, far exceeding the set plan such as: concentrated forest planting reached more than 191% (1,406.22/734.6ha), scattered tree planting reached nearly 144% (199.25/138.69ha), and zoning and promoting regeneration reached 105.75% (1,145.72/1,083.44ha).
Only the target of agroforestry planting was low, equivalent to 43.7% of the plan (485.3/1,110.55ha).
Among the localities, Dak Glong is the leading district in terms of concentrated forestation area with more than 944 hectares. This figure is even higher than the planned forestation target of the entire Dak Nong province in 2024 (734.6 hectares).
Krong No district has an impressive scattered tree planting target of more than 700 hectares. Regarding agroforestry, Tuy Duc has a planted area of nearly 360 hectares.
According to Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Pham Tuan Anh, afforestation and scattered tree planting is a very important task to achieve environmental targets (increasing coverage). This target was assigned in the Resolution of the 12th Dak Nong Provincial Party Congress.
In recent times, the work of forest development has always been closely directed by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Dak Nong province, specifically through resolutions, projects, programs and plans.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has promptly advised the Provincial People's Committee to direct localities in forest development work. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has proactively coordinated and supported localities and units to review and develop forest development plans, remove difficulties in implementation, in order to complete assigned targets.
Mr. Tuan Anh said: In recent years, afforestation work in the province has had many changes, especially in 2024.
Afforestation has mobilized resources from businesses, communities, organizations, individuals and households. This contributes to greening barren hills, improving the ecological environment, and creating more jobs for people.
