VAR technology to be applied from the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship

The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has just announced the application of VAR technology in the semi-finals and finals of the 2025 AFF Women's Championship.

This is the first time VAR has been used in a women's football tournament at the Southeast Asian regional level.

This morning, August 14, the VIO coordinator appointed by AFF arrived in Hai Phong to survey and deploy equipment for the upcoming match.

The implementation of VAR aims to improve fairness, transparency and support referees in making more accurate decisions in key situations.

The introduction of VAR into the tournament is considered an important step forward, contributing to improving the professional quality and image of women's football in Southeast Asia.

At the 2025 AFF Women's Championship, Australia will face Vietnam in the first semi-final, while Myanmar will face Thailand in the other semi-final.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has just announced a plan to sell tickets for the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.
