Police escort woman who reported pickpocketing at Children's Hospital 2

(Dan Tri) - District 1 police transferred the woman who reported being pickpocketed at Children's Hospital 2 from Dak Lak to Ho Chi Minh City to take her statement and clarify the case.


On the evening of February 13, District 1 Police, Ho Chi Minh City, announced that they had taken Ms. Ho Thi Xuan (born in 1987, residing in Lam Dong province) to the headquarters to take her statement and clarify the case. Ms. Xuan was identified as the woman who posted false information on social media about her having all her money stolen from her child's medical examination in front of Children's Hospital 2, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to initial investigation information, on February 10, through monitoring the situation on the Internet, District 1 Police discovered a clip filmed by a woman holding a child and crying in the premises of Children's Hospital 2, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, with the content of having her pocket pickpocketed for 9.5 million VND and asking people to help her and her child have money for medical examination.

After discovering the information, District 1 Police quickly directed the Criminal Police Team to coordinate with Ben Nghe Ward Police to contact representatives of Children's Hospital 2 to verify the information.

Through that, the authorities determined that at 4:37, the woman carried the child from gate number 4 to Children's Hospital 2. At 6:18, this person walked across the street to have breakfast and then re-entered the hospital in the lobby area and the waiting area. About 30 minutes later, this person carried the child to the lobby area, turned on the phone to livestream, then led the child inside for examination.

At 12:37, this person went to have lunch, then took the child around the hospital. During the entire journey from the gate of Children's Hospital 2 until entering the hospital lobby, the woman was not found to have had contact or talked to anyone as reported in the clip posted on social media.

At 2:08 p.m. the same day, the woman took the child to gate number 5 of the hospital and booked a motorbike taxi to An Suong bus station. After that, it is unclear where the woman went.

District 1 police assigned officers to verify and discovered that Ms. Xuan was residing in Dak Lak province and transferred her to headquarters for questioning.
