Specifically, 121 “Red Devils” fans were arrested in the top 6 leagues in England. Man City ranked second with 94 cases, while West Ham, the team that had held the leading position for the previous 3 consecutive seasons, is now in third place with 77 cases.

Arsenal recorded the biggest drop, from 85 to 42. In contrast, Aston Villa saw the biggest increase, from 26 to 71.

The organization said that among recent fan arrests, public disorder continued to be the most common offense, accounting for 32% of all cases, according to its latest report on security at football tournaments.

Notably, the rate of arrests related to possession of banned substances has skyrocketed to its highest level since this type of crime was added to Schedule 1 in November 2022. Specifically, this rate has increased by 19%, compared to only 9% in the period 2022-2023. This sudden increase shows a worrying trend that needs special attention from the authorities.

Man Utd also had the highest number of fans arrested for possession of banned substances, with 27 cases. Next were West Ham (26), Newcastle (24), Liverpool (18), Manchester City (15), Everton (14), Leeds (13), Sheffield Wednesday (12), Southampton (12) and Tottenham (12).

England and Wales had a total of 2,439 football fan bans in effect as of June 1. This marks a 12% increase on the end of last season, and is the highest total since the end of the 2012-13 season.

This significant increase reflects efforts to tighten discipline and deal with fan violations, to ensure security and order at football events across the UK.

Man Utd just had a season to forget when finishing in 15th place in the Premier League (the lowest result since 1974) not only disappointed but also pushed many fans to the brink of anger, leading to riots and violence.

The Red Devils' on-field woes are posing a major challenge for security and crowd management, as frustration turns into acts that go beyond the limits.
