Active domestic consumption

In the context of globalization, international trade plays an important role in the development of the economy. However, when the US recently announced high tariffs on imported goods, many businesses will face great challenges. This poses an urgent need to promote domestic consumption as an important solution to maintain market stability and support businesses to overcome difficulties.

One of the direct impacts of the US high tax policy is the decline in the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market. When the tax rate increases, the selling price of products of export enterprises in the province becomes less attractive compared to goods from countries not affected by this policy. That causes many enterprises to reduce or even lose customers, have to reduce production or look for alternative markets, which is not easy in the context of increasingly fierce trade competition.

In addition, adjusting the supply chain to avoid the impact of high tariffs also increases production costs. Businesses are forced to find alternative sources of raw materials or change production processes to adapt to the domestic market. This not only puts pressure on finances but also affects product quality if not carefully prepared.

Therefore, domestic consumption becomes a key factor in helping businesses maintain production activities. When consumers prioritize choosing domestic products, domestic businesses have the opportunity to expand the market, increase revenue and reduce dependence on exports. Consumer shopping behavior not only affects sales but also encourages businesses to improve products to meet domestic demand.

An important factor in promoting domestic consumption is consumer awareness of the quality of domestic goods. Governments at all levels, businesses and organizations need to coordinate to develop communication programs to increase people's trust in domestic products.

E-commerce also plays an important role in connecting domestic businesses with consumers. Digital platforms not only help businesses reach a wider customer base but also reduce intermediary costs, thereby helping them maintain competitive prices. Taking advantage of social networks and domestic e-commerce platforms to promote products will help increase businesses' accessibility and promote domestic shopping behavior.

According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2025, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the province reached more than VND 20,970 billion, up 11.88% over the same period, of which retail sales of goods were estimated at more than VND 16,609 billion, up 10.43% over the same period; revenue from other consumer service industries was estimated at nearly VND 2,499 billion, up 16.14% over the same period.

In recent years, consumers in the province have increasingly trusted and chosen Vietnamese products. This trend not only helps domestic enterprises develop but also contributes to promoting the local economy. The province has implemented many policies to encourage domestic consumption, combined with changes in people's awareness, creating a potential Vietnamese goods market.

One of the important factors driving this trend is the regular consumer stimulus programs. Fairs of high-quality Vietnamese goods, promotional programs and propaganda campaigns such as “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” have helped raise people’s awareness of the benefits of using domestic products. Thanks to that, Vietnamese goods are increasingly popular and have a stronger position in the market.

Not only stopping at product quality, the response of local consumers to buy Vietnamese goods also comes from the awareness of supporting domestic enterprises. More and more people choose Vietnamese goods not only because of the quality but also because of the desire to contribute to the development of the domestic economy.

Using domestic products not only brings personal benefits but also helps create more jobs, promote production and economic growth. Thanks to the positive response from the people, the Vietnamese goods market is growing stronger and stronger. Enterprises have more motivation to expand production, innovate technology and improve competitiveness, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the locality.

The US imposing high tariffs on imported goods in the coming time is a big challenge for Vietnamese businesses, but at the same time it is an opportunity for businesses to restructure, improve quality and focus more on the domestic market.

When consumers change their shopping habits, businesses innovate to meet demand, and the Government and provinces support with appropriate policies, the economy can overcome difficulties and develop in a more sustainable direction.
