North Korean officials wear badges with leader Kim Jong Un's image for first time

At the 10th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea presided over by Kim Jong Un, officials wore badges with the party's distinctive logo on their right lapel, and on their left chest was a badge with Kim's image on a red flag-shaped background.

The conference, which began on June 28, will review the party's work in the first half of 2024, state news agency KCNA said.

In an apparent move to bolster Kim Jong Un's position, earlier this year North Korean media released photos showing the leader's portrait prominently displayed alongside those of Kim Jong Il and his late father, Kim Il Sung.

In April, the music video for a propaganda song praising Kim Jong Un as a "great leader" was aired on Korean Central Television.
