Important contributions

On the morning of August 20, the leaders of the Department of International Cooperation ( Ministry of Education and Training ) had a meeting and announced the Decision of Minister Nguyen Kim Son on awarding the Medal for the Cause of Education to Mr. KIL HO JIN - Director of the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City.

During his time working in Vietnam from September 2022 to present, Mr. KIL HO JIN has made many contributions to promoting Korean language teaching in Vietnam, aiming to strengthen the friendly educational cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Korea.

Before taking on the position of Director of the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. KIL HO JIN held the position of Secretary of the Deputy Minister of Education of Korea and was always interested in the educational cooperation relationship between the two countries Vietnam and Korea.

After that, Mr. KIL HO JIN successfully passed the application round and the public competitive interview round of the Korean Ministry of Education to be appointed as Director of the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City on September 1, 2022.

As the head, Mr. KIL HO JIN helped the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City expand to the South Central region from Da Nang down. For the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK), the scope of management is all over Vietnam.

The Center has also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Departments of Education and Training: Da Nang (October 2023), Da Lat - Lam Dong (October 2023), Can Tho (September 2024). Establishing the "Center for Korean Language and Culture in Vietnam" at the University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi in November 2024.

During his tenure, Mr. KIL HO JIN also contributed to expanding the number of schools teaching Korean and the number of students. From 16 schools with 4,410 students in Ho Chi Minh City in 2022 to 52 schools with 12,173 students in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Da Nang, and Can Tho in 2024.

Increase the organization of free Korean language and Korean culture courses at the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City, including 4 Korean language classes according to levels, TOPIK exam preparation class, Korean study abroad preparatory class, Taekwondo class, K-dance class.

Organize free Korean classes for civil servants of administrative agencies such as Korean class for civil servants of Can Tho city, Korean class for Ho Chi Minh City Police as well as Korean class for people of Da Nang - Quy Nhon - Nha Trang cities.

Support for connecting Korean and Vietnamese education

In addition, Mr. KIL HO JIN plays an important role in promoting exchanges between Vietnamese and Korean students and teachers. Providing students in the Ho Chi Minh City area with the opportunity to explore culture and learn about Korean businesses in the Hanoi area (May 4, 2024 with 29 students).

Nominate students and teachers to participate in Korean language training programs in Korea. Carry out bilateral exchange programs in the form of on-offline between educational institutions in Vietnam and the Departments of Education of Gyeongsangbuk, Incheon, Jeollanamdo, Chungbuk of Korea...

In the field of establishing Korean language education foundation and To expand exchanges between universities of the two countries, he nominated candidates to receive the Certificate of Merit from the President of Korea.

Including Dr. Bui Phan Anh Thu - Head of Korean Studies Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in October 2023; Dr. Tran Thi Huong - Head of Korean Studies Department, University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi in July 2024; Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien - Head of Korean Language and Culture Department, Van Lang University in July 2025 for her contributions to the cause of Korean language education.

In the field of semiconductors, Mr. KIL HO JIN connected and signed a MOU between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Kwangwoon University (November 2023). In the field of business administration, connected and signed a MOU between Ho Chi Minh City University of Law and Chungnam University (January 2025).

In addition, Mr. KIL HO JIN also actively supports outstanding Vietnamese talents to study in Korea; operates a free study abroad consulting center from July 2023 to present; organizes preparatory study abroad classes (total 112 hours, 4 semesters per year); builds a scholarship program recommended by the Director of the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City (in association with 10 Korean universities); organizes Korean study abroad seminars and study abroad consulting sessions of each university during the year.
