This morning (September 18), in Cua Viet town, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, a whirlwind accompanied by heavy rain swept through, causing many coastal shops to have their roofs blown off, furniture damaged, and many trees broken.

Immediately after the tornado, people proactively recovered and continued to prevent natural disasters.

At the storm shelters in Gio Linh and Trieu Phong districts, Quang Tri province, fishermen are urgently anchoring their boats. The Quang Tri Border Guard has sent people to the coastal communes to support the people.

Trieu Van Border Guard Station, Trieu Phong district has sent officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities and organizations to focus on propaganda work, calling on boats to anchor safely, and helping people to reinforce their houses.

By this afternoon (September 18), more than 2,000 boats in Quang Tri province had basically come ashore to anchor and take shelter safely.

Colonel Le Van Phuong, Commander of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command, said that Quang Tri Province has banned the sea since September 17, calling on all vessels still operating to return to shore. Currently, some of the province's vessels operating on the southern coast are contacting people to return to shore.

"The vehicles that are currently expected to be in the path of the storm have been called upon according to the announcement, so that the vehicle owners can proactively take precautions, help people enter the boat docks to secure the boats, and ensure the safety of the vehicles. At the same time, the fishermen on the boats are called upon to proactively secure the boats and be ready to evacuate people to the mainland when the storm makes landfall," said Colonel Le Van Phuong.
