Giving Livelihood

A few years ago, the Bling Cơơch household (residing in Ki'noonh hamlet, A Xan commune, Tay Giang) received a pair of black pigs from officers and soldiers of the Tr'Hy Border Guard Station through the model of "Party members of the Border Guard Station in charge of households in border areas". After a period of care, the pair of pigs gave birth for the first time, helping Mr. Cơơch's household expand their livelihood.

Mr. Bling Cleich said that in addition to supporting breeding pigs, officers and soldiers also guide how to take care of livestock, especially in supporting the construction of barns to prevent disease.

“Not only did the soldiers support piglets, they also taught people how to convert production from upland rice cultivation to wet rice cultivation. Many other poor households in the village were also helped with piglets, chickens and ducks to make a living and have escaped poverty,” said Mr. Bling Cleich.

Lieutenant Phan Thanh Phong - Head of the Mass Mobilization Team (Tr'Hy Border Guard Station) said that Bling Cloơch household is one of 5 households in Ki'noonh village that received help from the unit's officers and soldiers. Through livelihood support activities, 15 party members of the unit took charge of 41 disadvantaged households in the two communes of Tr'Hy and A Xan, helping them overcome difficulties and improve their labor and production.

As the person assigned by the unit to help 5 disadvantaged households in the area, Lieutenant Phan Thanh Phong has often gone to the grassroots to grasp the situation and aspirations of the people.

At the same time, develop a plan to advise the Party Committee and the Command Board of Tr'Hy Border Guard Station to coordinate with local authorities to help people develop a model of livestock farming, combining planting fruit trees and medicinal herbs under the forest canopy...

“After a period of assistance, many households have gradually found a direction in economic development. In particular, household economic development models have brought about efficiency, and people's lives have improved day by day,” Lieutenant Phan Thanh Phong added.

Sowing trust in the community

Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung - Deputy Political Commissar of the Quang Nam Border Guard said that, along with the task of managing and protecting the national border, in recent years, the Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard has done a good job in mass mobilization work, focusing on and promoting the role of the great solidarity bloc, creating a solid foundation in building the all-people border defense posture.

A typical example is the model of "Border Guard Station Party members in charge of households in border areas", with 184 Party members assigned to take charge of 846 disadvantaged households in border and island areas.

Of these, 121 party members are in charge of 106 ethnic minority households along the border with Laos, helping to form many livelihood models with the unique mark of Border Guard officers and soldiers.

During the implementation process, the Party Committee and commanders of the border posts organized meetings and directly communicated to 846 households about the Party's policies, State laws, agreements, and regulations of border areas and border gates; communicated and mobilized 75 vehicles/1,125 fishermen to participate in the struggle to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands.

At the same time, coordinate with local forces to contribute 636 working days to repair houses, build new rural areas, prevent floods and storms...

In addition, from the coordination work, the provincial Border Guard donated 7 "Shelters of Love" houses, supported 300 ducklings, 2 hectares of ginseng and dozens of gifts and scholarships for students and people in the border area, with a total value of nearly 1.5 billion VND.

“With many creative, effective and practical ways, we have helped the military-civilian solidarity relationship become increasingly close, promoting people to work and produce, actively and effectively participating in the management and protection of territorial sovereignty and national border security,” said Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung.

According to Colonel Hoang Van Man - Political Commissar of Quang Nam Border Guard, in the coming time, the unit will continue to effectively implement the policy of increasing Border Guard officers for border communes, especially assigning party members to take charge of disadvantaged households, as well as promoting the model of "Border Guard Party members participating in activities at village and block Party cells". Thereby, strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, contributing to poverty reduction and new rural construction...
