In the days leading up to Lunar New Year, Ms. Ngoc Yen and her employees, each with a different task, were busy completing the work of gilding coconuts and gourds in time to send them to customers during the Lunar New Year 2025.
After being selected and imported, the coconuts will be cleaned and meticulously painted with 2-3 layers of glossy gold paint.
After the clear coat is completely dry, the coconut is carefully covered with industrial gold leaves, using a brush to smooth the surface.
Gourds and gold-plated coconuts continuously close orders before Lunar New Year
The process of casting the words “wealth”, “prosperity”, and the dragon and phoenix images with handmade hot glue is meticulously done by Ms. Ngoc Yen. These are also the final finishing steps of these products.
Gold-plated coconuts are sold for 700,000 - 1 million VND/pair. Gold-plated gourds are priced from 900,000 - 1.5 million VND/pair.
Last year, she only focused on coconuts, but this year, Ms. Yen started experimenting with gourd products, which are also very popular with customers, and her revenue has increased by about 20%.
