From unfortunate incident... to heartwarming gesture of students
The beautiful and humane action of a group of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, moved many people when they invited two veterans who were "chased away" by another group of people to sit together to fully enjoy the solemn moment of the parade.
The story of a male student who disrespected a veteran left ripples in the hearts of many people. However, immediately after, the heartwarming story of a group of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, promptly "corrected" a group of young people, bringing confidence and admiration.
You took the initiative to invite two veterans who were chased away from their seats by another group of people to sit with you to watch the solemn parade.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Le Thi Phuong Hoa, a first-year student majoring in Sociology at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed her honor that her group had the opportunity to invite two veterans who had just had an accident to join in the celebration.
To get the best viewing position, the group of students arrived at the area near the City Museum on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street from 4pm on April 29. After that, 6 Humanities students and 3 friends from other schools gathered together, eagerly awaiting the important moments of the ceremony.
At around 10-11pm the same day, an unfortunate incident occurred when there was an argument between a group of young people and two war veterans.
"It was quite noisy at that time, we couldn't hear clearly, we only realized there were two men in veteran uniforms standing at the base of the tree and the group of people there did not give way.
Immediately, our group invited the two of them to sit with us. We called out loudly, afraid that if they left, we wouldn't have a chance to invite them back," Hoa recalled.

The girl from Binh Duong choked up as she said that when the two men had settled down, everyone had a chance to chat intimately.
"At first, the two of them seemed hesitant because we didn't believe them, and wanted to show us their veteran cards, war invalid cards, and documents proving their participation in the resistance war. But we sincerely replied, 'We don't need to see it.' After that, we asked them about their historical memories," Hoa shared.
"Like children in the family": Warm moments on the sidelines of the grand ceremony
Also in the group of students, female student Nguyen Ngoc Tuyen recounted that the two men shared that they were both special forces soldiers, traveling from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City to attend the grand ceremony. On their chests were solemn medals.
The incident probably happened because the two men were new to the city and unfamiliar with the rules, so they chose the wrong seat. When they were reminded, they were wondering where to sit.
"Seeing his red eyes and hearing the two veterans say, "Luckily, you guys sympathize with me. After 50 years of coming back here, I thought I would be welcomed, but I was actually chased away. I feel so sorry." I can't describe the moment I heard him say the word "feel sorry." We were stunned for a moment," Tuyen recalled.

You fought bravely for the independence of the nation, so that we could be born and grow up in peace, yet some young people treated you badly. I feel very sorry for that!
Not only stopping at helping the two veterans above, the group of students also invited another veteran to join in the fun.
"In addition to the three veterans we invited, there were two more sitting nearby. So there were five veterans in our group. We were so lucky to listen to them tell stories about the old battlefields and deeply feel their sacrifices and great contributions to the Fatherland," the representative of the student group expressed their respect.
The group of students emotionally shared that not only their group but also many people around happily invited the veterans to sit with them. Although the seats were a bit cramped, everyone was happy to let the veterans have the most comfortable position.

Listening to you tell historical stories, we feel honored, lucky and sincerely thank you for your great contributions and sacrifices.
A representative of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, said the school feels very happy and proud because these beautiful actions of young people have been widely spread.
"I believe that today's young generation, who have inherited a decent education, on the basis of peace and independence, will certainly have humane and proper actions and attitudes, not just students of any school.
"I wish that young people will always maintain a loving heart, patriotism and national pride, continuing the glorious tradition of our ancestors - the heroes who sacrificed their blood and bones so that we can comfortably play and study in today's peaceful atmosphere," the school representative shared.
The story of two veterans who unfortunately encountered an unfortunate incident at the parade viewing area was soothed by a warm action from young students.
Your sincerity and gratitude have created a beautiful image, spreading respect for the previous generation. This is like a subtle "apology" sent to those who have contributed to the Fatherland.
