Over the past 50 years since the country's reunification, Hai Duong literature and art have continuously developed, gradually affirming their role as an important part of the people's spiritual life, while contributing to enriching modern Vietnamese culture, literature and art. With a long-standing cultural tradition, the Eastern region has been, is and will continue to be a place to preserve and spread artistic values ​​rich in identity in the flow of national culture.

Hai Duong is a land of “spiritual people”, famous for its tradition of studiousness and profound humanistic thinking. With 472 doctors, 11 top scholars, and Mo Trach village - the place with the largest number of doctors in the country, this land has long been the cradle of knowledge and creativity. This is also the foundation for Hai Duong literature and art to form early, develop steadily and leave its own mark in the hearts of the public nationwide.

Before the August Revolution, Hai Duong was the hometown of many outstanding artists such as Tham Tam with the poem Tong biet hanh bearing the spirit of Dong A, Vu Dinh Lien with Ong do filled with cultural nostalgia, or musician Do Nhuan - who contributed to lighting the fire of resistance through the song Du kich song Thao . These are not only big names but also evidence of the patriotism and talent of the people of Dong.

Entering the period of national renewal, Hai Duong literature and art continue to affirm its role in reflecting life, people and society. The work Story of a Teacher by writer Nguyen Minh Chau - an outstanding son of the province - not only raises issues of ethics and education, but also shows the depth of thought in the way of looking at people in the context of change. Recently, the work My Husband by Ho Anh Thai has opened up a new creative direction, expressing modern artistic thinking, deeply approaching the issues of contemporary life.

In addition to outstanding works, the organization and activities of literature and art in Hai Duong have also developed synchronously. Since the re-establishment of the province in 1997, the Hai Duong Literature and Art Association has grown steadily. From 96 initial members, the Association now has nearly 250 members, of which more than 100 are central professional members. This team is active in many fields such as literature, fine arts, theater, photography, music... and has established a significant position in the cultural and artistic life of the Northern region.

An important highlight is the Con Son Literature and Arts Award, held every 5 years, which has become a great spiritual motivation for artists in the province. Through 8 award ceremonies, hundreds of works with valuable content and art have been honored, contributing to the unique cultural appearance of Hai Duong today.

The province also pays special attention to nurturing young creative forces. Publications such as Young Literature , White Shirt Times , Schoolyard Sunflowers ... are not only artistic playgrounds but also environments that encourage the new generation to continue the cultural and creative tradition. Along with that, the mass art movement has developed strongly, spreading widely to every residential area, school, and cultural house, creating a close, vibrant artistic life, closely connected with the people.

Adapting to the new era, Hai Duong is one of the pioneering localities in bringing works to digital technology platforms to reach a wide audience, especially the youth. At the same time, traditional art forms such as Cheo, Ca Tru, Folk Songs, etc. are not only preserved but also renewed, brought into contemporary living spaces with more intimate and creative ways of expression.

Literature and art are not only "decorations for life", but also the soul and spiritual strength of a developing community. With that viewpoint, the Party Committee and the Hai Duong provincial government have issued many specific action programs such as: Program to implement Resolution 23 of the Politburo, Program to promote the cultural values ​​of the Eastern region and build Hai Duong people, Plan to implement Conclusion 84-KL/TW... Those orientations demonstrate the province's long-term and clear commitment to the cause of cultural and artistic development.

Half a century is not a long time compared to the long cultural history of Hai Duong, but it is enough to affirm the mettle, vitality and innovative spirit in artistic creation of this land. The journey of preserving and spreading the Eastern identity in literature and art is not only a story of yesterday, but also an aspiration of today and a responsibility for the future. With a solid cultural foundation, a team of talented artists, and a reasonable development policy, Hai Duong will continue to be a bright spot of Vietnamese culture and art in the period of integration and sustainable development.
