On the afternoon of June 17, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized a working session with Formosa International Development Company Limited (FIDC - Investor of My Xuan A2 Industrial Park); Phu My Water Supply Joint Stock Company (PhuMy Wasuco) and functional units to resolve the issue of FIDC still owing more than 23.6 billion VND in unpaid water bills (as of June 17), so the water supply unit has reduced 60% of the water pressure to My Xuan A2 Industrial Park.
However, FIDC did not send anyone to attend the meeting, nor did it issue a document stating the reason for not attending.
Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province commented that FIDC lacked cooperation to resolve the case. He requested that the competent authorities handle the case according to the law.
According to Mr. Vinh, in the recent past, FIDC reported that it had encountered many difficulties and obstacles, so the Provincial People's Committee has done its best to create favorable conditions to support businesses.
Initially, the enterprise coordinated with the province to resolve the issue, but later did not fulfill its commitment, affecting the production and business process at My Xuan A2 Industrial Park.
During this process, the Provincial People's Committee also received a complaint that FIDC received water money from a secondary enterprise, but did not pay the water supply unit. This issue has been assigned to the police to handle according to regulations, and directed to be strictly handled.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee also requested PhuMy Wasuco, in addition to taking tough measures, to quickly submit documents to the court to initiate a lawsuit requesting FIDC to fulfill its payment obligations according to the signed contract.
Propose that the Management Board of Industrial Parks continue to deploy and work with FIDC to resolve the water debt issue and other issues; the Provincial Inspectorate organizes a comprehensive inspection of investment activities, and especially the role and obligations of FIDC as the investor at My Xuan A2 Industrial Park.
“The province’s viewpoint is to create the best conditions for businesses, but to resolutely and strictly handle violations so as not to affect the investment environment of Ba Ria - Vung Tau,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh.
According to PhuMy Wasuco, the reduction of water pressure in My Xuan A2 Industrial Park is expected to last until the debt is settled. The unit will quickly consolidate the dossier and file a lawsuit at the competent People's Court as soon as possible.
Previously, from June 13, PhuMy Wasuco reduced 30% of water pressure in My Xuan A2 Industrial Park, because the investor, FIDC, still owed tens of billions of dong in unpaid water bills.
By June 17, the water pressure in My Xuan A2 Industrial Park continued to decrease by another 30% (only reaching 40% compared to normal). During this process, FIDC still lacked coordination with the authorities to resolve the outstanding water bill.
The reduction in water pressure has affected the production and business activities of secondary enterprises in My Xuan A2 Industrial Park, as they struggle to find solutions to ensure production as well as the lives of workers at the enterprises.
