On February 20, the Hanoi New Rural Area Appraisal Team inspected the site and reviewed the application for recognition of Thanh My commune (Son Tay town) as a model new rural area.

Reporting to the appraisal team, Chairman of Thanh My Commune People's Committee Phung Trong Dung said that as a hilly commune, Thanh My is maintaining stable production of nearly 400 hectares of rice and other crops. Some areas have now been converted to grow ginseng and chrysanthemum, bringing high economic efficiency.

Thanh My people also raise small livestock and develop some rural industries such as construction, mechanics, carpentry, industrial sewing... By the end of 2024, the average income per capita in the commune will reach nearly 80 million VND/person/year.

Along with economic development and the implementation of the Model New Rural Development Program, in recent times, rural infrastructure in the commune has continued to receive investment attention and become more and more complete. Especially in the fields of: health, culture, security and order, and digital transformation.

At the conference, members of the Hanoi New Rural Area Appraisal Team, representing departments and branches, highly appreciated the results of building a model new rural area of ​​Thanh My commune; at the same time, they also gave many suggestions for the locality to continue to improve and enhance the criteria.

Ngo Van Ngon, Deputy Chief of Office of the Hanoi New Rural Development Program Coordination Office, said that the appraisal team had reviewed and compared documents as well as conducted field inspections. Accordingly, there was a high consensus that Thanh My commune was qualified to complete the construction of a model new rural area in four areas: security and order, health, culture, and digital transformation.

Mr. Ngo Van Ngon suggested that Thanh My commune soon complete the dossier to submit to the competent authority for consideration and recognition of meeting the standards of a model new rural area. At the same time, continue to pay attention to investment and further improve the criteria to build a model new rural area with substantial results, meeting the aspirations of the people.
