On the morning of June 14, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications of Hai Phong City to organize the Conference on Standards - Measurement - Quality of the Information and Communications Sector in 2024. The conference was held to enhance the dissemination of standards, measurement and quality in the field of Information and Communications, contributing to putting management policies into practice.

The orientation of the Ministry of Information and Communications is to take market requirements as the development target, take enterprises as the center of standardization activities, and harmonize with international standards. Therefore, every year, the Ministry of Information and Communications always reviews and builds new standards and technical regulations under its management.

In fact, the Ministry of Information and Communications has built a system of regulations and standards covering the fields of post, telecommunications, information technology, radio and television, and a number of documents regulating the application of technical regulations and standards.

In particular, in 2023-2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications has focused on researching, developing and perfecting national technical regulations related to base stations, terminals and 5G services, and is considering issuing Vietnamese Standards related to IoT, AI.... These are technical regulations and standards that will affect the development of networks and provision of telecommunications services in the coming time.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam said that as technology is changing every day, the development and application of technical standards, regulations and precise measurements are key factors to ensure that products and goods meet the health, safety and quality requirements of consumers, creating trust for the market and society.

The application of standards and standardization activities has improved the efficiency, productivity, quality, and production and business capacity of enterprises. Standardization also contributes to the harmonization of the interests of the State, the interests of enterprises, and the interests of the community.

To expand the development space of the IT industry, the Ministry of Information and Communications aims to raise Vietnam's ranking in terms of quality of IT products, goods and services to the top of developed countries in Asia and the world.

" Standards for Made in Vietnam products must have advanced technical and quality requirements. Vietnamese standards for services must have targets on par with those of developed countries, with a suitable implementation roadmap," Deputy Minister Phan Tam emphasized.

According to Deputy Minister Phan Tam, it is necessary to implement a new approach of promoting the direct application of international standards, regional standards, and foreign standards to promptly amend and supplement Vietnamese Standards and Vietnamese Regulations, so as to be consistent with development trends, application of new technologies, and increasingly high management requirements.

Faced with the need to popularize secure and reliable digital infrastructure, popularize diverse digital services for 100 million people, and digitally transform millions of organizations and businesses, upgrading standardization activities is increasingly important. Therefore, in the coming time, the Deputy Minister requested relevant units to enhance awareness, measurement capacity, supervision and inspection work, and soon develop and put into use a number of common software and platforms on standards, measurement and quality.
