Recently, a clip appeared on social media of two young people wearing black shirts, believed to be students of Van Lang University, shouting, insulting others, and fighting for a place to watch the parade during the April 30th celebration of the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day.
Many people were upset when watching this clip and said that the two male students had acted disrespectfully towards the veteran.
“I am really ashamed and upset. I am ashamed that we are studying in a civilized school, living in peace but treating veterans like that. When the whole country is remembering the merits of those who came before, you two did not give up your seats and were also disrespectful,” a comment posted on the forum was agreed by many people.

Many students of Van Lang University do not want their school name to be famous in this unfortunate way. A student of the school sent an email to the school leadership requesting disciplinary action against students who behaved inappropriately during the April 30th celebration.
Van Lang University said that in the past 24 hours, it has received many messages from teachers, parents, students, alumni and readers about the incident where a student of the school acted disrespectfully towards veterans during the event waiting for the April 30th parade.
According to the school representative, the training philosophy of Van Lang University is to train well-rounded people, with ethics, a spirit of lifelong learning, with positive influence and impact, inspiring the community. The school recognizes the progress as well as corrects the mistakes of each student on the journey of self-improvement - a journey that is not easy, with the joint education of family, school, and community.
Van Lang University is currently coordinating with the faculty and student affairs department to promptly verify and ensure the case is handled in accordance with the student affairs regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
“The school does not agree with the substandard behavior of an individual student, which negatively affects the overall positive image of the student community and does not represent Van Lang University,” Van Lang University stated.
The school also informed that in recent days, when the whole country was looking towards the historical milestone of the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day, the school organized many events and educational activities on ethics, traditions and patriotism for students, thereby actively spreading humane and meaningful messages about peace, gratitude to one's roots, faith and determination to contribute youth to building the Fatherland. That is the common spirit of the majority of teachers, students and alumni of the school.
