Thanh Khe District (Da Nang City) has just opened an exhibition of art news photos at the Traditional House - Thanh Khe District Library (374 Dien Bien Phu Street).
Photo exhibition with the theme "Thanh Khe 50 years of construction and development" celebrates major holidays such as the 95th anniversary of the founding of the City Party Committee and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang City, and the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
Previously, Thanh Khe District Culture and Sports Center in collaboration with Da Nang Photography Club invited photographers and those who love creating photos to contribute their works; then organized a selection, synthesis and award ceremony.
After nearly 2 months of launching, the organizing committee has received more than 100 single photos and photo collections from 20 authors in the city. After 2 rounds of judging, the jury has selected 31 works to display and consider for awards.
The exhibition introduces photographic works about the beauty of Thanh Khe District and the development journey of the land through each historical period.
The artistic news photos depict the Thanh Khe land changing day by day, becoming rich, beautiful, full of vitality, civilized, and rich in historical value...
The most impressive of these are the photos depicting the transformation of Phu Loc River, a river located in the heart of the city, winding through residential areas before flowing into Da Nang Bay.
The urbanization process turned the river into an environmental pollution hotspot decades ago, then it was regenerated and today has a clear, peaceful beauty.
Along with Phu Loc River, the lake system of Da Nang city center (mainly concentrated in Thanh Khe district) has also changed.
Da Nang City and the locality have devoted many resources to improving the lake's ecological environment, solving pollution problems, upgrading the landscape, and returning precious green lungs to the city center with high urbanization density.
Selected images at the exhibition:

Above photo: Phu Loc was a black river (before 2009) when it received wastewater from 5 canals from residential areas and companies. The situation of littering and dumping of debris caused sedimentation at the river mouth, causing further pollution; now it has been cleared, eliminating the black pollution spot.

Above photo: Direct discharge and inadequate wastewater treatment plants in the period 2009 - 2015 poisoned the river. After more than 10 years of investment and renovation, the river and seafood have revived, and fishermen have returned to fishing.

In 2007, the World Bank funded 218 million USD to implement a priority infrastructure investment project, including the project to completely renovate and treat environmental pollution in Phu Loc River with a scale of 110.2 billion VND and 301,500 USD from ODA capital and domestic counterpart capital (photo above). Next, the anti-silting breakwater cleared the river mouth to Da Nang Bay.

Currently, Phu Loc River is not only a clean and green environment but also has traditional cultural significance, preserving the place where community activities such as Thanh Khe fishermen's basket boat racing take place.

Dredging the Phu Loc River also gives fishermen back the waterway to the sea; in the photo is the fishing fleet docking at Da Nang Bay, Phu Loc section.

Along the Phu Loc River (Yen Khe 1 Street) there is a youth project of the Da Nang City Youth Union, a mural road nearly 300m long with the theme "Childhood Memories" to create a clean and beautiful landscape. Here there is a youth volunteer team to protect the environment of the Phu Loc River.

Besides Phu Loc River, lakes in the city center are also being renovated, such as Bau Trang Lake next to the Hue intersection overpass.

Thac Gian Lake – Vinh Trung today, was formerly a large and polluted lake. This area, along with the north-south axis (Ham Nghi – Le Dinh Ly street) and the east-west axis (Nguyen Van Linh axis), is the first project of Da Nang City to exploit land funds for infrastructure investment. This project has changed the entire appearance of the area.

After 1975, 29.3 Park Lake was also revived from a landfill and is now the largest "green lung" in the city center for people to have fun, relax, and exercise.
