The United Arab Emirates (UAE) strongly condemns the attack on the residence of the Head of the UAE Mission in Khartoum (Sudan), causing serious damage to the building.
The UAE calls on the Sudanese military to take full responsibility for this action.
The attack comes amid a conflict between the two countries over Abu Dhabi's support for rebel forces from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the country will send a diplomatic note to the Arab League, the African Union and the United Nations to protest the attack by the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF).
Abu Dhabi said the attack violated the basic principle of the inviolability of diplomatic premises.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stressed the role of protecting diplomatic buildings and embassy staff residences, in accordance with treaties and practices governing diplomatic relations.
The UAE strongly condemns these actions, as well as all forms of violence and conflicts contrary to international law that cause insecurity and instability.
In addition, Sudanese officials have repeatedly accused the UAE of providing financial support and weapons to opposition forces in military campaigns that have been taking place in the country for nearly two and a half years.
Due to military operations in the Sudanese capital and its suburbs, many countries were forced to relocate their diplomatic missions to the port city of Port Sudan, which is under official government control.
