Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology issues warning about impersonation fraud

In the announcement dated August 4, 2025, impersonators of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology informed candidates (who have not yet passed the university entrance exam) about "Winning the Vietnam Young Generation Scholarship and University of Technology Sydney".

This fake announcement clearly states the name of the winner of the above scholarship for first-year students of the joint program "Talented Students" of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM and University of Technology Sydney...

Speaking with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Mai Huong, Head of Brand Management Department - University of Technology, confirmed that the school had received information about the scholarship announcement, but this was an announcement impersonating the school.

"Candidates born in 2007 still don't know whether they have been admitted to university or not, so where can they get information about being admitted to scholarships?" - Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Mai Huong, said.

The representative of the Polytechnic University also added that fake announcements in the school’s name are not rare in recent times. The school has also issued warnings for candidates, students, and parents to take precautions. When receiving similar information, candidates, students, and parents should contact the school for official information and avoid being deceived.

Two months ago, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology also issued a warning about fake scholarship applications and required payment of review fees under the International Bachelor of Engineering Joint Program.

According to Huong, all registration and scholarship review processes for students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology are carried out on a strict system, via email and the school's official electronic information channels.
