Nguyen Trinh Gia Thy showed his talent for painting at a very young age and was fortunate to receive support and encouragement from his family. Thanks to that, he has achieved many proud results.
At the contest "Uncle Ho with Children - Children with Uncle Ho" in the 2024-2025 school year organized by the Central Council of the Young Pioneers, Thy was the only representative of Gia Lai province (old) to win an encouragement prize in the painting competition. In 2024, Thy won the promising prize in the national children's painting competition with the theme "I draw a happy school"; the C prize in the painting competition "Following the example of Hero Ly Tu Trong" organized by the Pleiku Children's House.

Showing off her consolation prize winning painting, Thy excitedly shared: “I drew children wearing traditional costumes attentively listening to their teacher telling stories about Uncle Ho; behind them is the image of the red flag with a yellow star fluttering and soldiers holding their guns firmly to protect the Fatherland… Through the painting, I want to convey the message that students must always be good, study well and follow Uncle Ho’s 5 teachings. Winning the prize is not only a joy but also motivates me to continue with my passion for painting.”
Born into a family where both parents are art teachers, Thy was exposed to painting from a young age. Her parents taught her how to draw compositions, shapes, color combinations, and how to tell a story through drawings. When she was young, Thy drew funny pictures of trees, animals, and cartoon characters. As she grew older, Thy's paintings had their own personality and were no longer constrained by stereotypes.
Before drawing, Thy always comes up with ideas, layouts, and chooses suitable colors. The paintings of Uncle Ho, tree planting activities, Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, Dai Doan Ket Square, etc. are all vividly depicted by Thy, with bright colors and full of emotions.
“Outside of school hours, I spend most of my time drawing. With the guidance of my parents, I often go online to watch videos on drawing techniques, color combinations, and creating depth for my paintings,” Thy shared.

In her small room, Thy keeps hundreds of colorful paintings created by herself, each painting is a story, a unique perspective on life.
Ms. Trinh Thi Thu Thuy - Thy's mother - said: "Since grade 1, Thy has loved coloring and drawing. Seeing that she has a talent, the family always creates conditions and prepares all the drawing tools for her to unleash her creativity. The family also encourages her to participate in competitions to gain more experience and learn skills from her friends."
Despite her passion for painting, Thy has always maintained her academic achievements. Throughout her 5 years of study, she has achieved the title of excellent student. Ms. Le Thi Thuy, homeroom teacher of class 5.9, said: “The school focuses on nurturing students’ talents. For students with a talent for painting like Thy, we coordinate with their families to encourage them to participate in competitions to have the opportunity to rub shoulders and challenge themselves.”
Talking about her future dream, Thy confided: "I want to become a professional artist, to create beautiful paintings and convey meaningful messages to people around me."
