Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting on June 23: "About four months ago, the supply of weapons from the United States to Israel was significantly reduced. We have received all kinds of explanations, but the basic situation has not changed. Based on what I heard the other day, I hope and believe that this issue will be resolved in the near future."

Earlier, on June 18, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had assured him that the Biden administration was working to lift restrictions on arms shipments to Israel and that US military aid to Israel was “proceeding as normal”.

The weapons dispute comes as the war in Gaza continues to strain relations between Israel and Washington, with the Biden administration trying to persuade Netanyahu to end the war quickly through a ceasefire with Hamas.

Earlier, more than 30 United Nations (UN) experts on June 20 called on countries and companies to stop transferring weapons and ammunition to Israel.

Experts say such transfers may constitute serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, and risk contributing to international crimes, possibly including genocide.
