Due to the impact of Typhoon Bebinca hitting the east coast of China, many travel companies in Vietnam with tours to China were forced to stop tours early or postpone departure times.

Mr. Tu Quy Thanh, director of Lien Bang Company, said that the rainy weather in recent days along with the announcement of a big storm forced the company's tours departing to the East China region (Shanghai - Hangzhou - Suzhou) to stop and postpone to another departure date.

Tours going to Beijing will continue as planned, while tours to Zhangjiajie and Chongqing will continue as planned.

At Vietravel , the situation is somewhat more complicated as as of September 21, this unit has a total of nearly 30 groups with about 900 guests on tour and preparing to depart to China for sightseeing and relaxation.

Ms. Nguyen Nguyet Van Khanh - the company's marketing director - said that there are currently 18 Vietravel tourist groups in China, including 5 groups with about 100 guests on a tour to some provinces and cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou, which are areas at risk of being affected by storm Bebinca.

Immediately after receiving information that storm Bebinca would directly affect several provinces and cities in China, the company coordinated with local partners and authorities to arrange a plan to bring guests back to Vietnam early, before the tour officially ended.

These groups of tourists are temporarily suspending their tour schedules due to the impact of storm Bebinca, and the company is arranging for them to rest at accommodation facilities that have been inspected and ensured to be safe.

For 19 tourist groups preparing to depart for China, Vietravel is coordinating with relevant parties in China to assess the situation and come up with appropriate solutions.

Mr. Pham Anh Vu, communications director of Viet Travel Company, said the company is reviewing two groups in Beijing, one of which is scheduled to go to Shanghai on September 18. Currently, partners in Shanghai have canceled all activities and recommended that tourists stay in hotels only, so the tour program is also being considered for change.

"Due to the impact of storms and floods, China Southern Airlines has announced a plan to support reservations and ticket transfers for flights that have been canceled or delayed due to storms.

Local travel partners and major hotels in Shanghai are committed to being flexible in adjusting the length of stay and not charging any penalty fees. In light of these developments, guests are also cooperating in changing or rescheduling their tours to ensure safety," Mr. Vu shared.

According to travel agencies, September is a good time to travel to China, with cool and pleasant weather. However, Typhoon Bebinca will affect tourism in Shanghai in the next few days, so tour routes may have to be changed.

Operators are maintaining close contact with visitors who have booked tours that include some attractions that are forecast to be affected by Bebinca, to provide updates on the storm situation and options such as rescheduling, refunds or tour transfers.
