Nghe An province directs proactive measures to respond to natural disasters in the coming days

It is forecasted that in the next 10 days (from August 14 to 24), in the Northern region, from Thanh Hoa to Hue provinces, there will be widespread heavy rain with a high risk of tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides, and localized flooding.

On August 14, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense issued Official Dispatch No. 172/VP-PCTT, directing proactive measures to respond to natural disasters in the coming days.

The dispatch stated: According to the assessment of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the next 10 days (from August 14 to 24), there is a possibility of a low pressure area appearing in the East Sea (which may develop into a tropical depression) and thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong gusts of wind at sea, widespread heavy rain with a high risk of tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides, and localized flooding in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa - Hue, the Central Highlands and the Southern region.

Meanwhile, in recent times, heavy rain, flash floods, landslides and thunderstorms have caused great damage to people and property in a number of localities in the province, especially in the mountainous communes in the West.

To proactively respond to natural disasters in the coming days, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the People's Committees of wards and communes; relevant agencies and units to immediately deploy the following contents:

For sea routes: Closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds and big waves at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle possible bad situations.

For mainland: Closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides and inundation; proactively deploy response measures to minimize damage.

At the same time, prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when there is a situation.

Organize on-duty seriously, regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense.
