On the evening of June 4 (local time), Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a victory speech in the general election at the headquarters of the ruling Indian People's Party (BJP) in the capital New Delhi after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by BJP surpassed the minimum majority of 272 seats to form the government.

In a speech reported by a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi stressed: "The NDA government will work with all its might to make India the third largest economy in the world. If India has to move forward at a fast pace, we will have to work hard to fight corruption. The fight against corruption has become difficult. The NDA government will focus on eradicating corruption in its third term."

In his speech, Mr. Modi thanked the people of the country for voting the NDA to power for a third consecutive term with a majority and also praised the Election Commission for conducting large-scale elections across India.

“Every Indian is proud of the credibility of the country’s electoral process and system. Voters of Jammu & Kashmir have shown unprecedented enthusiasm by casting their ballots in record numbers,” he pointed out.

The Election Commission of India has not yet announced the official vote counting results./.
