Prime Minister's message on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of ASEAN

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has a message on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of ASEAN's founding and 30 years of Vietnam's accession to ASEAN.

Gia Lai Newspaper, Radio and Television published the full text of the message:

On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), on behalf of General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, I would like to send my respectful greetings, warm regards and best wishes to all ASEAN leaders and people of ASEAN.

We appreciate that after 58 years of formation and development, ASEAN has grown stronger in both stature and position, playing an increasingly important role in the region and the world, upholding the principles of consensus and unity in diversity and becoming a dynamically developing region and the center of growth.

ASEAN has adopted Vision 2045 and is working hard to make this vision a reality. For Vietnam, after thirty years of joining ASEAN, along with the growth of ASEAN, we have also matured and grown, with the wholehearted, selfless and transparent help of ASEAN countries.

We strive to learn from ASEAN countries and have put forward the 2045 Vision to become a high-income developed country, in line with the ASEAN Community's common Vision.

We hope that ASEAN countries will support the realization of this vision. Vietnam will continue to implement its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralization, being a good friend and reliable partner to all countries in the world, and a responsible member of the international community, for the goal of peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

We pledge to continue to contribute and make every effort to build a united, consensual, and diverse ASEAN and to bring ASEAN to rapid and sustainable development based on science, technology and innovation.
