On the afternoon of June 21, Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province organized the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in the district in 2024. Attending the Congress were Mr. Mai Xuan Liem - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le Minh Hanh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee, and 85 outstanding delegates representing ethnic minorities in the district.
In recent times, with the attention, investment and support of the Party and the State, the material and spiritual life of ethnic people in Tho Xuan district has been improved, the appearance of communes and villages has changed a lot, and the people of all ethnic groups are united. The growth rate of production value in 2023 reached 6.3% (ranked 2nd in the province). Average income per capita in 2023 reached 63.80 million VND (1.5 times higher than in 2019; total mobilized investment and development capital reached over 6,000 billion VND).
In particular, policies to support production development have created more jobs for ethnic minorities, and income in remote communes has been increasingly improved, and the poverty rate has decreased to 2.56%. In 5 mountainous communes, there is 1 commune achieving advanced NTM status, 1 town achieving civilized urban criteria; in the fields of economy - society, national defense - security, many important achievements have been achieved; Lam Son - Sao Vang urban area, Lam Son - Sao Vang high-tech agricultural area, Tho Xuan Airport service area, urban residential area... have created momentum for mountainous communes, people's lives have been improved, in which the policies of the Party and State for ethnic minorities and poor households have been effectively implemented, the lives of ethnic minorities have been improved day by day.
The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has received local attention. By 2023, the district will have 32 provincial-level OCOP products, including 1 product rated 4 stars and 31 products rated 3 stars.
The work of preserving and restoring the unique cultural values of ethnic groups has been paid attention to. Up to now, in Tho Xuan district, there are 57 relics and heritages ranked and recognized, including 2 special national relics, 4 national relics, 49 provincial relics and 2 intangible cultural heritages and many festivals with cultural and artistic activities imbued with the identity of the Muong, Thai, Tho, Tay ethnic groups... such as Muong Tien Ban Festival, Phu Dia Festival...
Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Mai Xuan Liem - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; acknowledged and commended the achievements and results that the Party Committee, government and ethnic communities of Tho Xuan district have achieved and highly appreciated the spirit of solidarity and close-knit ties of the ethnic communities currently living together in the district. Ethnic people have actively participated in implementing the policies of the Party and the State, enthusiastically competed in labor production, promoted the tradition of solidarity, strived to build a new life, built villages, hamlets and homelands increasingly rich and civilized, contributing to maintaining political stability and social order and safety.
These achievements have affirmed the correctness of the consistent ethnic policies and guidelines of our Party and State; they are symbols of the Great Unity, unification of will and action of all ethnic groups under the leadership of the Party in the cause of national renewal, especially in the period when the district is building an advanced New Rural District in 2024 and building Tho Xuan district into a town before 2030.
The Congress elected 3 official delegates to attend the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Thanh Hoa Province. At the Congress, 3 groups and 85 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to implement ethnic work and ethnic policies in the period 2019 - 2024.
