Construction of nearly 100 billion VND project, many residents have to 'use crutches'

Currently, many houses in Residential Group No. 2, Phuong Canh Street (Xuan Phuong Ward, Nam Tu Liem District) next to the construction site of the project "Construction of technical facilities of the Geological - Rare Earths Federation" show signs of tilting and subsidence.

According to the complaint of the households, the incident started when the construction unit of the project "Construction of technical facilities of the Geological - Rare Earth Federation". When digging the foundation of the basement slab, it caused a landslide, creating a geological slide frame, so the houses adjacent to the construction area had cracks, tilts, subsidence, and horizontal displacement towards the construction site. In particular, a series of houses tilted, subsided, and separated between adjacent houses by up to about 30cm.

Speaking with Tien Phong reporter, Mr. Tran Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of Xuan Phuong Ward People's Committee confirmed that 19 households were affected by the project construction. Among them, there was a house tilted more than 10 degrees. According to Mr. Hoan, after the inspection, the Ward People's Committee organized an inspection and invited the investor, the construction unit and the affected households to come to work.

The investor and the construction unit have also proposed a plan to ensure the safety of the people. The investor also requested the construction unit to stop the construction of the basement of Building A to complete the documents. The construction unit has also deposited more than 4 billion VND to ensure the implementation of safety measures for the affected people.

It is known that the project "Construction of technical facilities of the Geological Federation - Rare Metals" has a total cost of 99.8 billion VND, invested by the Geological Federation - Rare Metals. The project's construction unit is the Joint Venture of Nam Do Construction Joint Stock Company - Truong Giang Technology Joint Stock Company. The consulting and supervising contractor is the Joint Venture of Vietnam Consulting Office - Project Management.

The scale of construction investment includes: Construction of new office buildings for the Federation's agencies and affiliated units, analysis, testing and data processing buildings on radioactive environment (areas A, B); Renovation of a 2-storey house (area C); construction of technical infrastructure for the entire land area to establish the project master plan. The project is expected to be completed by December 31, 2024.
