Appearing amid the anticipation of thousands of audiences, Tung Duong opened the live show "When a man sings" with a series of songs with strong folk melodies associated with his name such as: "Con co" (Luu Ha An), "Oh my hometown" (Le Minh Son), mashup "Huyen thuy ho Nui Coc - Ben dong song Cai".

These are all songs expressing love for the homeland and country and have been with Tung Duong since his early days of singing, but they are completely new arrangements and harmonies. The performance of the male singer born in 1983 also has the depth of his soul and the freshness of a voice that is constantly creative and always knows how to renew itself.

Singer Tung Duong said he chose songs about his homeland and country to open his live show celebrating his 22nd year of singing because that is the genre that suits him best. It is also the genre of music that helps him express his ultimate love.

Continuing the flow of emotions about his homeland and country, Tung Duong brought the songs "Nostalgia for winter" (Phu Quang), "Long road of white snow" (Le Anh Dung). Every time he sang these songs, he remembered the first time he performed on stage at the age of 12 when he went to Russia to visit his parents. At that time, his voice had not yet broken and he sang "Nostalgia for winter" by musician Phu Quang clearly, completely different from the inner strength of today.

Nearly 30 years have passed, but he still cannot forget the story of both laughter and tears of children living far away from home and understands that anyone who has to live far away from home always longs for their homeland, their mother, and their father.

The male singer devoted part of the concert night to honoring his family and parents. The atmosphere of the program became more solemn when Tung Duong performed the song "Nguoi Ngoai" by Phan Manh Quynh with his voice like the whispering conversation of a son in a foreign land with his mother in his homeland. After that, the male singer continued to sing with the song "Mother to Me" by musician Tran Tien and "Loi Loi Lie Cua Cha" written by Dong Thien Duc.

In the second part, Tung Duong focused on expressing the passionate and intense emotions of love but without being "possessed" as usual with "Mang thai" (Sa Huynh), "Sau loi tu xu" (Phan Manh Quynh), "Tai sinh" (Tang Duy Tan)... Among the songs Tung Duong performed in this part, "Tai sinh" received the most attention. The song was written by Tang Duy Tan specifically for Tung Duong, inspired by the love story of the male singer and his wife Giang Pham, expressing the rebirth in love of a man when he meets the woman of his life.

The appearance of the guests added a youthful color to the music night. True to the title "The man who sings", Tung Duong only invited male artists to sing together in this music night. As the first guest, Trung Quan Idol sang along with Tung Duong in two songs "Ngay chua gio bao" (Bui Lan Huong) and "Trot yeu" (Ai Phuong). Famous for his ability to hit high notes, Trung Quan still felt sometimes overshadowed when singing a duet with Tung Duong.

The male singer joked: "In 16 years of singing, I was always confident about my loudness, but when I sang with Tung Duong, I was no longer confident, I had to ask him for a private lesson. Even though I had agreed to sing softly, even with the private key for Duong's mic to be quieter, I still felt inferior." During the music night, Trung Quan also performed a solo "Passing Through Memories".

Tang Duy Tan made Tung Duong blush with embarrassment

Tang Duy Tan and Tung Duong surprised everyone by bringing a symphony orchestra into the arrangement of "Upstairs on the floor", completely different from the EDM version familiar to the audience. Tang Duy Tan said this was a special live show that he had been waiting for for 10 years. Tang Duy Tan and Tung Duong are cousins, both nephews of musician Tran Hoan. 10 years ago, when he watched Tung Duong's live show at the Hanoi Opera House, he dreamed of one day standing on stage with the male singer.

I used to dream of singing harmony or joining an orchestra, but I never dared to dream of singing with Tung Duong like today," Tang Duy Tan confided. He also said that his music is a bit magical because it is greatly influenced by Tung Duong and affirmed that without Tung Duong, there would be no musician Tang Duy Tan today. Hearing his cousin say that, the male singer seemed embarrassed and had to speak up to "fix" it immediately. Tung Duong said that his cousin was exaggerating and said he was very proud that the Nguyen Tang family finally had someone to succeed the musician Tran Hoan.

Soobin Hoang Son was the most anticipated guest of the show, making the audience excited when he sang along with Tung Duong in two songs "Gia Nhu" and "Chiec Khan Pieu".

He said he felt honored to be invited to attend the live show of his senior whom he had followed since he was young, and was even more surprised when Tung Duong suggested trying an R&B song which was not his forte. During the show, Soobin also taught Tung Duong some dance moves and encouraged his senior to compete in Anh trai vu ngan cong gai next season because he believed the male singer would do something special.

Meanwhile, Tung Duong expressed his admiration for Soobin's family's musical tradition as well as the singer's mindset. Before ending his performance, Soobin also performed the solo "If that day".

The last part of the show was mainly songs from Tung Duong's newly released album "Multiverse" and also the time when he appeared as a singing man. "Multiverse", "Steal", "Old" or "Men Don't Need to Cry", "Phoenix Wings" were all full of philosophy, abstraction and space for Tung Duong to freely explore his creativity.

The male singer said that his philosophical works, which concern the universe and life, may be difficult to listen to at first, but they all have lasting vitality. At the age of 40, Tung Duong's music no longer shows off, expresses a different personality or satisfies the ego, but focuses on simple, humane things.

With the selected works, Tung Duong hopes that the program will be an opportunity for the audience to sit back and contemplate and temporarily forget the pain of a year of many losses due to storms and floods while immersing themselves in music and positive messages. The music night ended at nearly midnight with the song "A round of Vietnam" by Dong Thien Duc, sung with Double 2T, but many audiences still stayed because they wanted Tung Duong to sing more.

"The Man Who Sings" is the 14th live show in Tung Duong's career. After the live concert in Hanoi, Tung Duong's crew will have the next performance on December 1 at Trung Vuong Theater, Da Nang City with guest singers Thanh Lam, Trung Quan idol and Sao Mai Champion 2022 - Le Minh Ngoc.
