Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said: Currently, the country has about 17 million workers and more than 8 million union members. Workers are present in all important economic sectors, contributing 65% of the gross domestic product and more than 70% to the state budget. The country currently has nearly 7 million workers working in industrial parks and foreign enterprises.

The large contingent of union members and workers is an important force that determines the socio-economic development of the country. Therefore, ensuring security and safety for workers is considered an important task by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Ministry of Public Security, and over the past time, they have continuously coordinated to successfully complete this task.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, suggested that in the coming time, the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor need to regularly exchange and share information, promptly forecast and handle situations arising related to the rights of workers, especially at foreign-invested enterprises and enterprises with high risks of security and safety.

Build and replicate pilot models in coordination between the police force and trade union organizations, especially in localities with many industrial parks and export processing zones; at the same time, strengthen training and foster skills for police officers and trade union officers in contacting, understanding and resolving the thoughts and aspirations of workers.

At the seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen An Ninh, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, proposed to innovate and improve the awareness of the context, topics, objects, scope, methods... to ensure political security and social order and safety in the current conditions to both improve work efficiency and contribute to building political capacity, class and national consciousness for workers. The field of political security and social order and safety needs to be digitized in both methods and scope of activities; develop more plans and scenarios to respond to objects and tricks in the new situation.

According to Colonel Nguyen Manh Toan, Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Security (Ministry of Public Security), to ensure worker security, the police force and trade unions at all levels need to strengthen coordination to grasp the situation, obstacles, inadequacies, difficulties, and limitations in implementing policies, guidelines, laws, and state management in areas affecting workers' rights such as: investment, labor, social insurance, employment, workers' housing, and trade union institutions to research and propose solutions to improve policies and laws, ensuring workers' and laborers' rights.

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded the "For the cause of building the Vietnam Trade Union" Medal to individuals.
