More than 10 years ago, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh (born in 1987, Cam Long village, Tam Loc commune) had to leave her hometown to work as a worker in industrial parks far from home, sometimes having to stay in Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc, sometimes rushing to drive from early morning to Tam Thang Industrial Park (Tam Ky city). For a long time, she quietly made a living, away from her family, her young child had to be taken care of by relatives. But since 2022, everything has changed when Kim Hoang Vu Investment and Production Company Limited invested in opening a garment factory in Tam Loc commune.

“I have been involved in the sewing profession for 20 years. Before, I worked far away, my life was unstable and very hard. When the workshop came to my hometown, I felt like I had my youth back. Now, I can work right in my hometown, with a stable monthly salary of 10 to 15 million VND, and have time to take care of my husband and children, and take care of the house. There is nothing more precious than having a stable job without having to go far away,” said Ms. Hanh.

According to Mr. Phan Thanh No - Vice Chairman of Tam Loc Commune People's Committee, Ms. Hanh is one of hundreds of local workers who are benefiting from the positive shift in the commune's economic structure. From a purely agricultural locality, Tam Loc has now formed small-scale industrial zones, with more than 2 garment factories and 1 tunnel brick factory, attracting hundreds of local workers.

We identify that sustainable poverty reduction must be associated with local livelihood creation. When people have jobs and stable incomes, they will be the ones to rise up and build their lives. From 2021 to now, Tam Loc has reduced the poverty rate by more than 2% each year, and in 2024 alone, the total number of poor households in the commune will be less than 2.3%. The average income per capita reaches 45 million VND/year, many households have built spacious houses, and their children have a full education.

Tam Loc is also one of the leading localities in the new rural construction program. In the period of 2015 - 2023, the commune mobilized more than 150 billion VND to invest in infrastructure systems such as rural transportation, schools, medical stations, electricity, and domestic water. In particular, with the high consensus of the people, the commune reached the new rural destination in 2020 and is continuing to complete the criteria to strive to build an advanced new rural commune in 2025.

Together to build the homeland

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ba ​​- Secretary of Tam Loc Commune Party Committee, to have a Tam Loc that changes like today, the most important thing is the consensus from the Party, the government to the people. From a land divided by war, lacking in all aspects of facilities, the commune now has a spacious infrastructure system, 100% of villages meet cultural standards, 100% of households use national electricity and clean water. The commune Party Committee currently has 12 affiliated Party cells with more than 280 Party members, with regular activities and increasingly improved quality.

Since 2021, the commune has issued many mechanisms to support agricultural production such as policies to encourage the renovation of mixed gardens, the development of medicinal plants, indigenous pig farming models, the construction of large fields... to help farmers increase their income. In addition, the commune also focuses on forest protection, ecosystem development, aiming to build Tam Loc into an ecological countryside associated with experiential tourism in the future.

We also expect more attention from superiors in allocating resources for the advanced new rural program, developing typical products and starting a business for young people. From there, we will move towards a sustainable Tam Loc based on the internal strength of the rural area.
