Video : Experience Hon Seo - the wild gem of Gia Lai.
Hon Seo Island is located in Quy Nhon Dong Ward, Gia Lai Province. Located about 6 km from the shore, seen from above the island looks like a giant catfish floating on the water surface and is voted as one of the most beautiful islands in Gia Lai Province.
According to legend, Hon Seo once had a large cave that could accommodate hundreds of people, but after many big storms, the cave collapsed, leaving behind jagged cliffs that looked like scars in the middle of the ocean. Locals jokingly said that anyone who stepped on this island would step on rocks and leave scars, hence the name Hon Seo.
From Nhon Ly beach, the boat will take visitors through Eo Gio, Yen island by speedboat, about 7 minutes to the gathering point of the floating houses. Due to the shallow water level and many rocks, visitors are forced to travel by basket boat to Hon Seo island.
What makes Hon Seo beautiful is not the long beaches but the beautiful rocks of various shapes and sizes and the clear blue sea water. The smooth, colorful pebbles make anyone exclaim as soon as they set foot on this special island.
Like other coastal areas in the Central region, the best time to travel to Hon Seo Quy Nhon is from April to the end of August, when the sea will be clearer and the sun will be brighter, suitable for swimming, SUP, kayaking...
Hon Seo is considered one of the most beautiful clear waters in Gia Lai. There are no people living on the island, so when you come here, you can freely splash around in the cool water and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
A tourist named Thuy from Hanoi shared: "Our family planned to stay in Nhon Ly for 2 days, however, if we only go swimming, everywhere is the same, so we chose this deserted island discovery tour to experience something new. With the price of 750,000 VND/person for a day tour including seafood, it is also reasonable."
Hon Seo has a diverse marine ecosystem, is a shelter and habitat for many precious aquatic species such as: abalone, sea cucumber, lobster, sea urchin, conch, moon snail, sea urchin... And especially the coral reef is beautiful in color and variety.
Coming to Hon Seo, visitors can have fun and take pictures on the wide rocky beach with countless colorful stones, polished smooth by the waves, uniquely resting on each other. When the tide is low, it creates a sand path connecting the small islands together, with the water level reaching the ankle, visitors can walk and save beautiful pictures on the deserted island.
To date, Hon Seo is still a wild oasis, with only wild plants and rocky reefs. Tourists visiting the island are mainly on day tours provided by local people. "We prepare everything for guests such as life jackets, diving goggles and swimming boats. The thing to note for guests when coming here is to follow the safety instructions of the tour guide because we don't want anyone to have scars," said a tour guide named Tuan.
