Students are trained and graded by businesses from the first year.

The information was stated by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Gia Khanh, Rector of the University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City National University, at the signing ceremony of cooperation with Vietnam International Data Group (IDG) on the afternoon of April 15.

Mr. Khanh said this is the first time the University of Economics and Law has implemented the Co-op program (cooperative training between universities and businesses), piloting in the fields of Management Information Systems and Financial Technology.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Phong, Head of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, said that initially, the school planned to intersperse training modules at businesses with the school program. However, businesses believe that intermittent, short-term training will not be as effective as having students work at least one month at a time. Therefore, the school must accelerate theoretical credits and spend time with students at businesses. Businesses will guide students in modules related to professional skills and expertise.

In the first two years, students work as interns. In the last two years, combined with the internship, students are qualified to work as full-time employees. The grading of students in each subject will be done by the business and the school together. In which, the score from the business side will account for a large proportion.

"The output standards and training courses remain unchanged and the degrees are still equivalent to other programs, but students will have more time to receive direct training and hands-on guidance from businesses," said Mr. Phong.

According to him, the goal is to help students be confident and get into the workforce right after graduation.

Normally, the internship program for students at universities starts from the third year, some schools from the second year. Rarely do schools allow students to do internships in the first year.

In addition, many schools cooperate with businesses in developing curriculum and learning content... but students' scores are still mostly assessed by the school's lecturers.

This year, the University of Economics and Law plans to enroll 2,600 students, maintaining the same 5 enrollment methods as last year.

In which, the school considers a maximum of 50% of the quota by the capacity assessment test scores organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University, and direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training is about 5% of the quota.

In addition, candidates can apply for admission based on graduation exam scores (30-50% of the target); according to the priority admission criteria of Ho Chi Minh City National University (up to 20%), considering international certificates combined with academic records or SAT/ACT/IB/A-Level certificates (up to 10%).
