Scaffolding collapses at Tuyen Quang expressway underpass project

According to initial information, while pouring concrete for the underpass, the steel scaffolding suddenly collapsed, seriously injuring a worker.

The victim was Mr. TVT (born in 1988, residing in Song Ma district, Son La province). Immediately after the accident, Mr. T was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but did not survive.

It is known that this project is undertaken by Cuong Thinh Thi Construction Investment Group Joint Stock Company, headquartered in Cau Yen Industrial Park, Ninh Binh City.

A representative of the Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee Office confirmed that the information circulating on social media about the collapse of the Khe Dang overpass is incorrect. This was only a scaffolding collapse incident during the process of pouring concrete formwork for the bridge's auxiliary items, not a collapse of the overpass.

Authorities are continuing to investigate to clarify the cause of the accident.

Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway Project (phase 1) through Tuyen Quang province is 69.7 km long, with a total investment of 6,800 billion VND.

The project is implemented with a land clearance scale corresponding to the standard of a 4-lane highway, using a land area of about 643 hectares. In phase 1, the route is designed with 2 motor lanes, using asphalt concrete pavement structure, to ensure flexibility and save investment costs.

Along the entire route, there are 7 interchanges and 3 level intersections designed, along with the construction of 91 underpasses on the main route. In addition, the project also includes 22 bridges, including 16 bridges on the expressway, 5 bridges on the interchange branches and 1 overpass on the level crossing over the expressway.

The starting point of the project is located at the intersection between Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway and National Highway 2D, in Nhu Khe Commune, Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang Province. The end point is at Km 77 + 00, where it connects to the expressway project through Ha Giang Province. The entire Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway has a total length of nearly 105 km, with a scale of two lanes and a total investment of up to 10,000 billion VND, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
