Graduated from Can Tho University with a major in environmental engineering, Thoa decided to start a business with ornamental plants. "I came to Can Tho from Bac Lieu to study. When I was a second-year student, I rented a small space in front of my dorm room to practice selling succulents , hoping to earn money to pay for my studies," Thoa said.

In 2023, after graduating from university, she decided to rent a larger space to start a business with bonsai. To create new and unique products that attract more customers, she thought of creating bonsai miniatures for the table. For Thoa, the most important thing to evaluate the difficulty of making bonsai is creativity, passion, meticulousness and skill.

The ornamental plants chosen for miniature landscapes are mainly money tree, money plant, lucky leaf, happy tree, etc. These types have beautiful, eye-catching colors and meaningful names. The plants are planted in combination with each other to "match the destiny" of each customer such as metal, wood, water, fire, earth.

"For example, red is suitable for the fire element, so there is the lucky tree. The money tree planted with the lucky tree means bringing prosperity, luck, and fortune to the homeowner. When the money tree, lucky tree, and lucky grass are combined, it means bringing luck. Many couples often choose to buy a lucky tree miniature on their wedding day to replace the cake cutting ceremony with the meaning of nurturing their small family," Thoa said.

When customers buy products, Thoa does not forget to include care instructions. According to Thoa, although ornamental plants are easy to care for, it is necessary to know the characteristics of the plant. Every week, the plant must be brought to a place with light 1-2 times to increase absorption and ventilation, limit fungi that cause waterlogging of leaves and roots; water 2-3 times/week, depending on the diameter and size of the pot.

Each miniature landscape costs from several tens to several hundred thousand dong, depending on the size, number of ornamental plants, and accessories; thanks to that, Thoa has an income of more than 20 million dong/month. In addition, she also creates jobs for 7 students studying at colleges and universities in Can Tho.

Thoa shared: "I am happy because the bonsai business helps me satisfy my passion and have a stable income. Therefore, I will continue to learn and create to have more beautiful works to serve customers."
