On the morning of April 15, Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee had a working session with SK Group (Korea), led by Mr. Young Wook Yoo - Vice President of SK Innovation E&S.

Attending the meeting were representatives of leaders of a number of departments, branches and the People's Committee of Hoang Mai town.

SK Group is one of the largest multi-industry corporations in Korea, with a market capitalization of nearly 200 billion USD, ranking 2nd in Korea and in the top 100 largest corporations in the world.

The group currently owns about 200 subsidiaries, with annual revenue of about 140 billion USD and profit of nearly 22 billion USD. In Vietnam, SK has invested billions of USD in many large enterprises and is continuing to expand investment in the fields of energy, healthcare, logistics and information technology.

Highly appreciating the capacity and scale of SK Group, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh expressed his pleasure at welcoming the delegation to learn about the local investment environment.

He affirmed that Nghe An province is committed to creating the most favorable and fastest conditions to attract investors, including Korean enterprises.

Currently, Nghe An has attracted 25 FDI ​​projects from Korea with a total registered investment capital of about 200 million USD. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that the meeting will open up specific investment cooperation opportunities with SK Group in the near future.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Young Wook Yoo expressed his joy at returning to Nghe An and shared the strategic orientation of SK Group in Vietnam.

He said the group is researching and developing an energy, high-tech, and artificial intelligence industrial cluster in the North Central region, in the two provinces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa - a model inspired by the city of Ulsan (South Korea).

In particular, representatives of SK Group expressed deep interest in the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project in Hoang Mai town, one of the key energy projects of Nghe An province and Vietnam.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh emphasized: Nghe An is currently among the top 10 provinces with the highest electricity demand in the country. With the current momentum of industrial and service development, local energy demand continues to increase sharply.

However, the generation capacity of existing power plants has not met the requirements, so the implementation of the Quynh Lap LNG power project is extremely urgent to ensure energy security for the province and the region.

At the meeting, Nghe An provincial leaders informed SK Group about the progress of preparations for organizing the bidding to select investors for the Quynh Lap LNG project. At the same time, the SK Group delegation discussed and clarified key factors in investment promotion such as: land, legality, investment environment, etc.

Representatives of SK Group highly appreciated the warm welcome of Nghe An provincial leaders and affirmed their determination to participate in key projects in the locality, especially in the fields of clean energy and high technology.

At the end of the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh acknowledged SK Group's interest in Nghe An, and reaffirmed that the province always welcomes and is ready to accompany investors.
